It was good to see a Prowler at the air show, I just wish someone from the crew could have been present. I was looking forward to chatting with them.I ran into these guys in Grand Junction last Friday on my way to Oregon. I actually knew the pilot. Good to see they made it through the nasty WX in TX.
BTW, Doug at GJT has passed the reins to Jesse. Solid guy and he loves the military just as much as Doug. Definitely a MUST STOP refueling stop for anyone going that direction. The memorabilia there is truly amazing.

View from the top of historic Hangar One. The climb to the top is a shooter school tradition. It's about twice as high and four times as big as a standard hangar. For those who don't know, Lakehurst used to be an airship base and is the site of the Hindenburg crash. No, that's not me in the photo.

After performing a series of aerial maneuvers to impress and entice their counterparts (above), each member of the puteulanus angelus "Blue Angel" species, selects a suitable mating partner, and occasionally, a rare public display of mid-air mating occurs (below).
XJ220, had an event with me that day. Unfortunately, we never were able to finish the event. We lost the #1 engine during a touch and go, flamed out at around 105 knots. I took the controls from the other student, and with less than 2500 feet remaining went flying. In addition to that, the prop failed to feather when we shut it down going through 350 feet. The prop brake did not catch it, and it continued to rotate at under 3 percent RPM. An uneventful 3 engine landing at Key West completed the flight, with the #1 prop finally stopping at around 80-90 knots on the runway during reversal. Fun fun.
It of course had nothing to do with my first flight as an FRS Instructor 
I guess we will know for sure if XJ220's flight tomorrow will be completed, eh? Good luck, and have a fun flight!
