How do you get a physics degree w/o ever taking linear algebra? Did you just ignore QM altogether?

The physics department teaches a course called "Mathematical Physics" that hits up some basic linear algebra. Transforming it to a hilbert space formalism just took a little reading and a class like PDEs.
