I don't know where you've heard that from, but T-38 PIT is exactly the opposite of one big haze.

Admittedly I haven't been personally, I just know what a few others have reported upon return.

In my experience, it is the most laid back, fun formal military flying training program I've seen.

That can't be as the most laid back, fun, formal military flying training program is at Beale.

Regardless, with about equal time now in the 38 and 45, given the choice I personally would prefer to fly the 45. And in 45s you get to drop blue death, probably the most enjoyable part of the syllabus as I recall - even with iron sights. I can only imagine the fun factor increases when you're not worried about getting a down. Going back to the boat would be a kick too.

All very valid points. I was pissed as an AT-38C IP to have the BDUs taken away.

If we ever go to war with blue bombs, the AT-38 (was) really going to kick ass. Guess it's all up to the T-45 bros now!

I think PIT courses are like women: there are many different moods and personalities, and sometimes you just wish you never would have gotten involved with one. Having been through each of the T-37, T-6, and T-38C full-blown PIT courses - I'd have to say that I agree with Vick and Hacker. PIT sucks, and PIT is awesome. T-37 PIT was a Haze and T-38C PIT was relaxed and I had a great time. Of course, I showed up to T-38 PIT having just finished 3 1/2 years of being a FAIP flying with real students, and I was a 4-ship flight lead at Beale already in the T-38. So, things were a little non-standard for me. Still though, I think the 38 guys do it right.

As I sit here, I am about to drive across base and start ground school for the T-45, as a Navy reservist. So far, I really like the environment. So, give me a year or so and I'll weigh in on the comparison................

Maybe you should wait until I write your first Fitness Report Horny, then we'll see how much you like the guys who look forward to Blue Camo Uniforms! :icon_smil

I'm joking of course, Welcome Aboard Horny!

Be gentle Sir, I'm numb from CAI.

Plus, I got these 23 year old kids in my ground school academics who all got their masters before starting UPT...... Sharp as shit. Once they get some air sense, they're going to be deadly. It's good to be back around youth and motivation- you forget what it was like to be that excited just to get an opportunity to strap on a jet.

Whaaat?? Is this a dig on me, Horny? Maybe lacking on youth, but was I not motivated to always fly??

Remember: port=left, starboard=right,... the UCD hole goes in the front, no matter what your Navy instructor says.:D

Huggy- you know I'd never take a dig at you. And your motivation to fly is legendary- your probably reading this while on the road in the middle of a T-38 cross country. How many Oshkosh TDYs does this make?

Also can you get me a spare spacesuit, cooler, and a hot PSD chic to carry it for me down here for "Fleet Fridays?" IPs wear their operational flight uniforms on that day. I'd like to participate. Or maybe an old school orange bag. Little before my time, but not that long ago. Might bring a return of the "pumpkin inflators." :)

I'd like to see you actually fit in the 45 in the spacesuit. Unless you are about as big as WeeMan, that would probably tight.

Dress for the golf course on friday and carry your clubs. Then they will know you are prior USAF.

I think one Friday at the club I was wearing some HSL Det patches on a tan bag, and some ENSs thought I was with the "Station SAR". (Lone Star SAR is no more)
