Would be great if it goes that way. We all just have to hope our respective admirals for each board don't take early holiday days. :-)
 
Civi, and I am applying for Intel. Officially, this will be my second application as I was up for BDCP in July. There is no more Intel BDCP though, so this is my first application that will be looked at, and it is for DA with an available date of Sep. 2011.
 
From what you have seen in your application process and on this forum, do you think active duty navy applicants have an edge over equivalent civilian applicants? Just wondering as I'm trying to figure out my chances of being pro-rec'd.

It is about 50/50 from what I've seen... I'm prior... I was pro-rec'd NFO in October... Good Luck!
 
It is hard to say because the number of applicants are so different. But no, there does not seem to be an advantage as far as the acception rates go. However, there often seems to be the benfit of more/better LOR's. Also, FITREPS are likely to be much easier to evaluate for the board than civi resumes. That can be both good and bad depending if you excelled or if you were just average/slightly above average.
Chances are pretty much up in the air. Having an average/above average GPA and ASTB helps, but the other parts (moto statement, LORS, interviews) play such a big part it is hard to guess. As you will see on here often, if you get a no, improve and try again. Its the best way to look at it. Always be improving so that you can show consistency.

Are you the one FC2 referred to as BH? what were your stats if you don't mind me asking?

Also when is your OCS class date?

mine are
3.09 gpa excelsior college
4 LOR's 1 navy captain, 1 district attorney, 2 congressman
10's on all officer interviews (0-3's)
good low on past 2 prt's

I doubt it I have been out of the Navy since 2005... Here I copied and pasted my stats off page 5 of the October boards for you...

Here you go this is off the top of my head:

28 Male
Prior Navy aircrewman for 5 years
ASTB 7/8/7 55
2.8 GPA University of Missouri - Columbia

LOR's
2 O-6 Navy pilots (Old XO/CO both currently active duty)
2 O-4's NFO/AMDO (NFO is still active, AMDO is retired)
1 O-3 pilot (active)
1 CWO3 (active)

Other notables
1100+ flight hours
150+ combat flight hours
volunteer work
I was told by several sources I had a very good motivational statement
I also have several awards
 
that's what i figured cause i've never been able to find any official stats. From looking at my stats do you think i have a fighting chance of getting selected for pilot? that was the only designator i applied for. 24m by the way. 4 years of active duty service(still on active duty) made E-5 in 3 years, all MP's and one EP, 1 NAM, 1 LOA aswell.

Just so you know this is the WORST question to ask on this forum. I'm not going to hammer you too hard but I will give you the quick answer. I don't know. Nobody does. Just make your application as good as you can possibly make it and you will have as good a shot as anyone else.

Are your LORs strong? Your interviews are great, however, they are from JOs if you get the no go I would highly recommend having the Captain do an interview for you and dump his LOR. The higher ranking individuals are the ones you want to give you interviews from what I have read in the past. Unless the congressman and district attorney know you better than your CO and XO I would recommend getting LORs from as many high ranking individuals in the Navy as you can. I turned in 6 LORs so I hope you have included your CO and XO otherwise that may raise a question mark. Your ASTB is about average and so is your GPA. Make sure your motivational statement is lights out as this will have significant weight in the boards decision as well. Once again, good luck!
