"Incidentally, one can get beat up in high school just for referring to one's self as one"
-Sheldon, Big Bang Theory-

Just saw this episode last week, and your "one" comment made me laugh.

This man is also quite dangerous, not wearing an American flag pin, not having a flag behind him at a press conference, raising taxies and driving the national debt to unprecedented levels. He must be stopped!

By the way, the original post of this thread was a quote from a blog on freerepublic.com, so I DO "read this kind of crap", not all the time, but just enough to offset the left-wing major news outlets. The blog points out that there is a difference between a press conference and a press briefing, which appears to be what President Reagan (This man) is conducting in your post.

It's fun stirring the pot and seeing the personalities emerge. Kind of validates certain things.

How is it reasonable, much less make any sense whatsoever? Since when does someone have to wrap themselves in the flag in order to be patriotic? I haven't flown a flag outside my house once, does that make me un-American? As for 'tradition', you are going to take the word of a guy who searched Google for a few minutes?

This is another tempest in a teapot, just like President Obama breaking 'tradition' by not being at Arlington for Memorial Day when in fact it hasn't been that closely followed by his recent predecessors, notably President George H.W. Bush, who never went there on Memorial Day. Or rolling his sleeves up in the Oval Office, putting his feet on the Resolute desk, not wearing a flag lapel pin or whatever other bullshit some loser thinks of sitting in his mom's basement in the middle of the night. My god, he must hate America! Socialist revolutionary! He wouldn't do that if he was from the 'real' America!!

It is actually quite pathetic that people actually see so much in something so innocuous.

Aww, did I hurt your feelings? They aren't even his arguments, they are merely someone else's copied and pasted that are bouncing around the internets at various blogs and websites.

You need to switch to decaf!! You still haven't explained why is it unreasonable to ask "Why?"

How many times as Navy officers have we been told we are held to a higher standard not because of who we are, but because of what we represent.

The President represents the country. The flag should be present.
I agree with HAL Pilot, he is representing the United States the flag needs to be present.

-Sheldon, Big Bang Theory-.....
Yeah ... Sheldon -- he's probably my 'favorite' on that show -- but the character is from Texas. Now seriously, how many guys from Texas do you know named: SHELDON ??? It was bad enough livin' & breathin' in Irving, TX. Can you imagine a cowboy named 'Irving' ... ???

Texas good ol' boy names: Billy-Bob, Buddy, Jim-Bob, Johnny-Mack, Joe-Don, Bronco, Buck, Slim, perhaps Lamar for the rich guys who lived in N. Dallas ... and of course, the ubiquitous 'Tex' ... but 'Sheldon' ???

I think not ... :)

I know, I love confirmation bias too!

Me too. Isn't that what all these little scandals are?

"Obama doesn't wear the flag lapel pin, he hates America."

"The President bowed to the Saudi king, he thinks America is inferior."

"BHO didn't have flags behind the podium. He must be ashamed of America."

This one I could give a damn about. We have real problems.

Ain't THAT the fuckin' truth!!!!

... We have SERIOUS problems in this ol' world and SERIOUS considerations that must be addressed, instead of all the above bullshit ... for example:

Today, Al & Tipper Gore announced they are 'separating' after 40 years of 'marriage' ...

I guess we won't be seeing the couple that inspired the novel 'Love Story' doin' this ^ any time again in the near future ...

When I first heard the 'news' today ... I just curled up on the floor for 3-4 hours in the fetal position, thumb in mouth, weeping: "No ... no ... no ... no .... no ......... ":)

ACTUALLY ... when Al was a Tennessee U.S. Congressman and I was livin' & breathin' in Texas, I was following his career w/ interest and I thought he was a STUD (in spite of his Dad). Both he & Tipper were good-to-go, in my opinion -- at that time. But then ... somewhere along the road to national 'prominence' .. Al decided the way to succeed in the national Democrat Party was to go to the left ... and more's the pity.

PLUS ... he caused me to have to BINGO -- low fuel -- from O-o-o-o-o-osaka to Nagoya. That's when I started REALLY not 'liking' him.

The Democrats lost a potential good man when Al went left & crazy. Unless he was always a hypocrite ... and had me fooled ... and then what's the 'diff' ???

Since I have been chastised for making disparaging remarks about Barak Obama, I hesitate to get involved in any of these conversations on AirWarriors. I don't like Obama, and think he is leading our country to the slaughter with the consent of our congress who are a bunch of gutless wonders. I posted my disent yesterday at the polls when I voted.
I will continue to voice my feelings but not here lest I get banned and miss out on some good stuff.
The pictures and videos abound showling Obama with an apparent disdain for American tradition and respect. While not mandatory, and not necessarily a tradition, it seems to me a matter of patriotic pride to display my flag with a lapel pin, or flags at my home. I have the only flag flying on a flagpole in my neighborhood and it bothers me to see such a lack of patriotism in the country unless there is some kind of disaster like 9/11 to wake the zombies. I've had several neighbors tell me if something happens in this neighborhood they want to come to my house! WTF? Whatever happened to national pride and cohesivness?

Everyone is guilty of confirmation bias, liberals and conservatives alike, don't act like you're immune from this.

What's wrong with commenting on something you have a problem with? I personally believe that some of these things don't matter- like the flag lapel pin- while others do matter- like bowing to a foreign head of state. I don't vote for a particular candidate because of his wardrobe choices or the layout of his ceremonies. His policies, character and leadership potential mean the most to me. However, little things do make a difference- we have the right the comment on these things because what the president does reflects on all of us.
