Obama: First U.S. President to hold Press Conference without the American Flags Present.

Posted on Fri May 28 04:30:07 2010 by Retired Intelligence Officer
Did anybody notice at President Obama's Press Conference on the Deep Water Horizon disaster than something was missing in the background? I noticed something didn't look right and then it hit me. The American Flags was missing behind. Why? Behind him was just yellow curtains, and a couple of gold columns with chandeliers.
I went and researched and looked at all photos of many press conferences (not press briefings) of past presidents as far as I could go and low and behold the American Flags stood proudly behind the President or off to the side. What was the reason for this? This was Obama's first formal press conference since July of 09 which at that conference were U.S. Flags present. I am pretty sure this time that they had plenty of time to plan this and get it right?
So, maybe there was another motive for the flags absence. We know Obama (or his handlers) carefully choreograph his image, his appearances... It's why he's so teleprompter-dependent. Surely he and his advisers know that flag issues have been a lightning rod -- even before he was elected. I think this was deliberate. Could it be that Obama really is ashamed of America? Could it be that he thinks he is the citizen of the world which has no flag? Ladies and gentlemen this is very disturbing coming from the office of the Presidency. This is not normal to not have the symbol of the United States and its government in the east room of the White House and it is not very Presidential either. Many patriotic brave men and women have died under the stars and stripes called old glory. This fiasco coupled with the President skipping the laying of the Wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington Cemetary this Memorial Day speaks volumes of the man (or Usurper) that sits in the Oval Office. What say you?

You gotta to be fucking kidding me.

Since when did we become an echo of every right-wing blog out there? Want to read this kind of crap all the time? Go to redstate.com or freerepublic.com, they have plenty of it. At the very least have an original thought instead of copying and pasting something.

...Things, and stuff...

I don't always support the man and his policies, but he is my Commander in Chief. I have a duty to ask questions when questions need to be asked, and right now, I don't believe this is one of the pressing issues in the country. With the middle class disappearing, unemployment at the highest levels in my lifetime, the world economy taking a dive...I think that there are more pressing issues to deal with. The lack of an American flag behind the president is something that ought to be addressed, and nowhere is it written that the president MUST honor only the veterans at Arlington. There are other national cemeteries that have veterans buried in them as well. It's important we honor their sacrifices as much as anyone else's.

I am a conservative, I'm not a Republican or a Democrat, but like Flash, I have to admit that the alarmists in the media (especially on the right) are getting old. Most of America knows we're in trouble politically and economically, you (the media) don't have to keep ramming these stories that are barely news down my throat.

About as reasonable as "why didn't he wear a US flag lapel pin?"

When there is a break with tradition, I think it's reasonable to ask why. I also think one should wait to hear why before jumping to conclusions.
I am not aware of a long-standing lapel flag pin tradition.

Thoughful post, and agree some of this is getting old. That said, also as tiring, those leftist fruitcakes, clueless, without an argument, must resort to profanity and attacks upon anyone that has a view different from theirs. Pitiful.:icon_rage

How is it reasonable, much less make any sense whatsoever? Since when does someone have to wrap themselves in the flag in order to be patriotic? I haven't flown a flag outside my house once, does that make me un-American? As for 'tradition', you are going to take the word of a guy who searched Google for a few minutes?

This is another tempest in a teapot, just like President Obama breaking 'tradition' by not being at Arlington for Memorial Day when in fact it hasn't been that closely followed by his recent predecessors, notably President George H.W. Bush, who never went there on Memorial Day. Or rolling his sleeves up in the Oval Office, putting his feet on the Resolute desk, not wearing a flag lapel pin or whatever other bullshit some loser thinks of sitting in his mom's basement in the middle of the night. My god, he must hate America! Socialist revolutionary! He wouldn't do that if he was from the 'real' America!!

It is actually quite pathetic that people actually see so much in something so innocuous.

Thoughtful post, and agree some of this is getting old. That said, also as tiring, those leftist fruitcakes, clueless, without an argument, must resort to profanity and attacks upon anyone that has a view different from theirs. Pitiful.:icon_rage

Aww, did I hurt your feelings? They aren't even his arguments, they are merely someone else's copied and pasted that are bouncing around the internets at various blogs and websites.

Last time I checked, the PREZ has been wearing the Stars & Stripes lapel pin ... I've taken notice and I appreciate it -- for my own reasons.

How many times as Navy officers have we been told we are held to a higher standard not because of who we are, but because of what we represent.

The President represents the country. The flag should be present.

I believe he was just pointing out that the stories coming from both sides of the media are getting old.

This man is also quite dangerous, not wearing an American flag pin, not having a flag behind him at a press conference, raising taxies and driving the national debt to unprecedented levels. He must be stopped!
