January 010 Boards!!!

I submitted my package back in early October so I should definitely be on the January OCS board. I'm a prior enlisted, currently teaching at Schools Command in Pensacola. Good luck to all, and does anyone actually know the date when the January board will convene?

You going SWO? SNA/SNFO/SWO boards generally meet on or about the 15th.

My recruiter today said that the Jan 2010 boards will not be looking at SNA (Pilots). Can anyone else confirm or deny hearing this from another source?

The way my OR told me was that they had hit their fiscal limit of selections, but not their total need yet. He said that it was an option for them to delay the board (like they did recently) but that if your kit is already in then you will definitely be looked at come the next board.

No, Definitely NOT going SWO! I would stay in my current rate before going that route. I'm like the majority, SNA or NFO. Hopefully the rumor you heard ins't true and they keep accepting applications during FY 2010. Who knows only time will tell.

My package was submitted on Monday. It was held up because I needed my academic degree completion plan because my college tried to be lame and not let me graduate. All my upper level humanities/social sciences were humanities, I was supposed to have at least one of each, nobody told me, it was always listed as hu/ss so I assumed they were interchangeable (never assume). They decided to let me graduate and when I submitted my package on Monday my OR said I should be good to go for the January board.

congrats on gettin your package in Triumph. Because I know everyone (I'll admit to be guilty as well) is probably nervous wrt the Jan boards being held or not for SNA/NFO, I'm gonna give da man in TN a call tomorrow. Hopefully he can lay to rest all of these rumors. It seems that OR's are not always on the same page (big surprise) and sometimes trickle down bad information. If I manage to get a hold of any answers, I'll post em here... though I am sure that some may take it as adding fuel to the rumor mill... oh well

Oh, I'm still plenty nervous anyways. It seems based on this site that the Navy is always changing its policies and doesn't always keep it's OR 100% up to date so there is always a chance they could be wrong (through no fault of their own. My OR is a great guy). Adding to my stress is the fact I just got laid off today. I have been drinking heavily (sorry about any spelling and/or grammar errors). Hopefully I am able to get into the Navy or at least find a job before my student loans kick in. I have decided that I am joining the military in some fashion. So far working in engineering is not what I had hoped it would be and I want to make a greater contribution to the security and well-being of my nation. I will enlist if I don't get picked up for officer after a few tries.

If you had your kit in October, why weren't you looked at in Nov?

I thought I would have been looked at during the November boards as well; but our Command Career Counselor talked to a someone up in Millington, Tn. who said that there was only a small possibility my package could be reviewed in November's board.

AT1,

Your stats are very similar to mine, aside from the GPA of course. Did you gear your motivational statement toward supply? That's what i did and got pro-rec'd for supply and swo on the November boards..... From what i've heard supply likes to pick up instructors. Hopefully your LOR's make up for your GPA. Your OAR is good enough...especially for a prior. Anyways, good luck man.
