Should I get a LOR from a current/former serviceperson? I don't really know any but I could probably ask around.

you might be able to... work on getting your appraisals and LORs. The only thing holding you back is taking the AOR- you might be able to coordinate that if you pull into Bahrain or some other port where you can plan it ahead of time while you’re in port. The packet is submitted electronically.

I appreciate the encouragement! Unfortunately, the OCONUS shore installation I am deployed to doesn't have a testing facility, so there is no way for me to take the OAR until I redeploy. I am working on running down the appraisals and LORs, though!

Howdy y’all I think this is the board I’m submitting for as well I heard back from the recruiter and my board date is 21May or at least the deadline for my package... Crypto, Cyberwarfare and Intelligence Officer which I’m assuming are the breakouts in the excel spread sheet but my stats are as follows:

Intel(#1) Cyber Warfare (#2) Crypto (#3)
Age: 30
Sex: Male
Evaluations: 4, 4, 4, 5
Education: B.A. Intelligence Studies-Concentration Cyber
GPA: TBD Cumulative 3.0-3.2 Current university is a 3.8 but will drop with cumulative
OAR: TBD
Waivers: N/A

I’m currently an E-6 in the Air Force as a Target Digital Network Analyst and previously I was a Cyber Operator

Hi there, hope everyone is doing awesome! Also applying for this board for 1830.
Before I ask Mr. Celestine, I have a question for anyone who has submitted waiver for OAR:
Did you use Pg.8 of OPNAV 1420/1 to request OAR waiver or did you have to submit a formal waiver letter to OPC via email?

Here are my stats:
37 Female, 11years in Active Duty
CTI1 (Chinese & Korean) and prior YN (6 yrs)
Second time applying; applied in 2015 as a YN2 for 1810 and 1830, sadly non-select.
EVALs: EP, MP, P, EP, EP, EP, EP (2020 and descending)
Education: B.A. in Mass Communication and minor in Business; AA in Chinese; currently in Masters program for Int. Relations
GPA: 3.4 for B.A.; 3.6 for AA at DLIFLC
OAR: 48 (trying to take again for higher score)
Waiver: my OAR
DLPT: 4/4 KOR; 2+/2+ CHIN
Appraisals: O-6(2), O-5(1), O-4(4), O-3(1)
LOR: O-7, O-6, O-5, and O-4.
Awards: NCM(1), JSAM(1), NAM(4), FLOC(3); SOY, SOQ, Foreign Language Excellence Award, etc.
NECs: 9CMN; 9KOR; 791A (Security Specialist for SSO)

Any feedback is much appreciated! Good luck everyone!

GPA is in the ballpark so you should have a "decent" shot as best anyone can going for Intel, probably have a better shot once you complete your Masters.

Hey everyone! Just checking in with stats and a few questions. Working to submit a package for this IWC board and I will also be submitting a package for the SWO board in August. Serious interest in both Intel 1830 and SWO 1160, so in my mind they’re both tied for “#1”. Best of luck to all.

Age: 22
Sex: Male
GPA: 3.56
Education: B.A. in International Affairs
OAR: 56 (retaking it in a month, knowing what the test is like now I’m confident I can earn a higher score)
LORs: Previous Employer, Russian Language Department Head, Volunteer Organization Advisor, Former Marine O-3. *Still running these down
Miscellaneous: +1 year of experience in open-source counter-terrorism research. President of student volunteer organization.

I’ve studied Russian Language as part of my BA program for over three-years should I take a DPLT to be included in my package?

Seeing how slow the results are being returned is it possible I wouldn’t learn the results of this IWC board before the August SWO board submission deadline? Regardless will submit to both. Going to ask my recruiter these same questions tomorrow.

There is no reason for you to retake the OAR, as well as no reason to take the DPLT as officers don't translate unless you are a FAO.

Understood on the DPLT, thank you for the swift reply. Reading through the threads I figured an OAR score in the 60s was competitive for Intel. Do the risks of doing worse the 2nd time outweigh the benefits? I thought it might not hurt to have a high OAR for the SWO submission as well. Just looking for some clarification.

an OAR just gets you to the board it is your GPA, degree and such that will get you selected.

you will need to submit your application for both at the same time to ensure you are seen by both boards, so figure out which you want as number 1.

I see. I’ll go ahead and figure out which one I want as #1. Is there anything you would suggest I could do to improve my package? Thanks for the info.

Since you’re looking into SWO you should look at SWO (Intel Option) You would be picked up as a SWO officer for your first tours and then change rate to Intel but if you loved SWO you could stay SWO look at MILSPERMAN 1212-050 for reference (link below)
