I am so glad I don't have SDO this weekend. Last week for Fay, I had to call all IP's and remind them to pack a bag to grab at a moments notice and don't drink to excessively. That was 45 IP's that laughed at me.

i was forced to ride out katrina when i was stationed at keesler in biloxi, with the wife and 4 kids, worst mistake the base could have made. we were cleaning out houses for months, orange, green, yellow, pink, you name the color, i saw more mold and puked more than i would have liked. definitely, if you have the chance to run, run!!! dont be stupid.

Anybody else remember the complete awesomeness that was hurricane Isabel, about 5 years ago?

I was but a lowly plebe and my firsties said "Grab your shoes, we're going running." Ran the sea wall after class that day all the way to Hospital Point bridge before the Academy opsO (CDR "Katz" Mckavitt) himself came out and told us to "Get the hell off the sea wall and go back to the Hall."

Good times.

Even better the next day when we kayaked around Farragut.

If I recall correctly, we were hit the night we (VT Hokies) played Miami in my rat year - 2003. Thursday night game, and we destroyed the hurricanes...in the hurricane. :D

Scoolbubba/HokieAv8er confirm?

Remember it quite well. Lost everything we owned cept for the cars that we took with us. Was quite interesting being homeless for 3 months with 3 kids.

It was actually against Texas A&M and it was from the remains of Ivan after it pounded Pensacola. I remember that game quite well.

Miami was later in the year and I also remember that game quite well.

Ah, it all runs together, especially after that many pushups. Appreciate it.

No, I'm saying if you live south of 98 and have to evacuate, you'll get paid. If you live north of 98, you won't.

That sucks.. Seems like if your command tells you to evacuate you should get paid just as everyone else regardless of which side of the road you live on. That leaves the little guy forced to weather the storm based on his location and financial position. Sure doesn't seem like the best way to take care of your people.

Fester, I haven't heard anything about 98 being a demarcation line.
It's being put out here that you/we get ordered by CNRSE to evac, then you get paid. Per diem, mileage (up to 350 miles), lodging (up to the Atlanta metro rate). You will muster via EMASS and you will have to be in a position to RTB w/in 48 hrs.

Mass fly-out tomorrow morning. Joy.

No, normally 98 is the limit for evacuations by the county. "CAT 3 coming...everybody south of 98, leave".

They gotta draw the line somewhere. Hwy 98 is it.

The latest predictions are bringing it further west. Not in Corpus territory yet, but it's not being ruled out. Still waiting for it to get into the gulf to get any real ideas.

That's what they're putting out? Hm. ESAMS is going/gone. The contract for the system wasn't renewed, so at some point it's just going to quit working. NFAAS is the replacement, but it crashes when everyone tries to muster themselves (the things you learn when you do drills).

As for the pay thing, it's what was put down at the pre-season base DPO meeting. I am more than happy to leave that as PSD's problem.
