And so that the brand new home of Mr. and Mrs. John Q public will not be torched or vandalized regardless of their religion or the color of their skin. Theft? Methinks not.

Yes, because the United States was just a happy, thriving place before WWII... then the war came along and after that, people lost their jobs, their homes, couldn't put food on their plates or clothe themselves...

You don't have to be a complete Keynesian to realize that the "military-industrial complex" of the war provided more invigoration to the US economy than any little school-building or road-paving socialist program.

Lest anyone here doubt ... Ike was asleep at the wheel as Prez. I was there, although in a "younger" incarnation and remember much. The whole country was asleep after Korea ....

Ike was a consummate politician ... in or out of uniform. He screwed Patton -- a real fighter -- and MacArthur (who's not necessarily my favorite -- although I was named for him ) once described Ike as ... "the best clerk I ever had ... "

I've got a 911 ... the only sticker that gets on it is the base sticker -- 'cause I have to do it. I would voluntarily put a bumper sticker on it when donkeys fly.
