Hey guys. I'm new to this site, and I'm a soon to be Marine OCS candidate. I want to be an aviator or an NFO in the Corps just pending on the whole rumor about corrective eye surgery. By the way, if anyone knows the answer to this please post it.
Anyways, I'm wondering if I should go ahead and get my Private Pilot license while I'm in school, so when I get to Primary I'll have some familiarization with the aircraft. I started my license back in the fall, but the whole $ issue was little much, so I've been saving. That's why I'm joining the military so I can learn to fly. Too much money to learn the civilian way. Tell me some stuff about the Trainer aircraft that is used at Primary.
Once you get into your first squadron what is life like for NFOs or Aviators? Is there time for wife and maybe kids or are most aviators single? How many tours do you have to do? How long is each tour? What's the contract time for fixed wing aviators? I know these are a lot of questions, but I've come to the right place to get them answered. Thanks & Semper FI
