Just received my Final Selection letter from my Skipper, and the reporting date is the 31st of March. I guess I need to start packing. Looking forward for a fun time in OCS, lol.
Has anyone heard about when the supplementary board for Intel is happening? I was one of those unlucky 87 who got missed and am eager to hear back from the board. I know it is sometime in March, but hoping someone may have more up to date information. Also I am wondering if they are grading quality candidates on the same standards or if the bar will be set astronomically high due to them already meeting quotas for the billets and not needing additional candidates. I'm hoping this isn't the case.
I guess this is my first post and I've been lurking for some time now so I'll post my stats if anyone is interested.
Age 30
Non-Prior
B.A. Magna Cum
M.A. East Asian Studies 3.585
LORs from Senator, Congressman, Local Businessman (former SWO 0-4 I believe)
55 OAR
Physical Shape: Pretty good I think. At MEPs I was 5'10 160lbs. I'm doing P90x, swimming, and run 4-5 miles 4x week + rowing.
Clean record
Right now I think the only thing I am wary of is my low OAR score. The last Math or Science course I had taken was nearly a decade prior and I'm not sure the Barron's book I reviewed from was the greatest resource when it came to the Mechanics section. (Didn't find out about this website's gouge until after I took the test). My recruiter recommended I not bother retaking it, but from what I've been reading on this site it carries a lot of weight and I'm beginning to regret not retaking it and trying to get a high 60s or above. Maybe I'm worrying too much, but I started this process over a year ago which has given me quite some time to stew. Trying to keep positive and optimistic at this point.
I believe it was Intel and SWO-IP or something along those lines, my recruiter mentioned it over the phone and added it in there for me as another possibility. Intel is my first choice.
I had originally put together a SWO package back in October, I believe the board was in December. Unfortunately I got denied outright as they weren't accepting any age waivers due to the large number of applicants.
I guess I'm trying to learn by trial and error. Tossed into the wilderness with 2 rocks and a piece of string to try and MacGyver my way into an OCS slot. In all honesty I thought the difficulty in getting everything squared away was fabricated by the Navy in order to weed out the non-committed. My last calculus or physics experience was back in high school, so looks like Intel it is.
Thanks for the clarification NavyOffRec.
Just got my FS letter with a report date of 21MAR13. That is next Thursday, so I'm assuming it is a typo and my actual class date is 31MAR13 or 21APR13. Has anyone heard of them sending some to OCS on a Thursday?
Unfortunately the OCS office is closed today.
