I'm all for the X-33, and I am also hoping the Breiting side of the house picks up a bit more steam so we can satisfy them too.

Is there anyone who is not set on the X-33 that would like a speedmaster professional instead? I am more of a fan of stainless steel watches for their ease of repair in comparison to titanium. A steel band may only need to be buffed out where you would have been forced to get a new band if it were titanium.
Titanium is supposed to have a certain amount of self-healing properties, that is light scratches react with the air in some way to "oxidize' into looking less scratched. I've had mine for 2 years and wear it nearly every day...it still looks good.

And FWIW the X-33 is actually a Speedmaster Professional (there are many watches in the SP line, not just the legendary Moonwatch). Splitting hairs, perhaps.

Yeah I wasn't specific enough, but as long as everyone knew what I meant.

I've just had horrible luck with titanium, such as watching a titanium citizen go into disrepair from the t-34/t-2 combo.

How long would this offer be open for? I'm hoping to get my wings around November time frame and am very interested, I just hope it won't be too late.

I hope the push on this has not died with the weekend. Remember this is open to any military aviator looking for a good deal, not just us on AW. So don't hesitate to ask your friends if they're interested.

Scoober, lots of folks in the RAG here in Jax are very interested in any watch deal going. I think you are assured of your 10 watch order for both Aviator and NFO wings.

Alright guys...sorry for the lengthy delay. I have been in contact with Omega and things are good. They are however looking at a rather long wait prior to delivery. Our representative is checking with Switzerland to verify the delay, but it is looking like six months till we have watches in hand. I still intend on going ahead, and I hope many of you will. As soon as I have a firm word on the delay on their end (all the information), I WILL start a new thread. I just want you guys to have ALL of the correct information before parting with your hard earned... No worries though...we will get this done.

The push is on, but I have been slammed this week...hence the delay. Sorry. We will get this done. I'm just a Cat I...gimme a break!:D

Just to muddy the water!

Very nice timepiece, Fortis is very popular in Europe, sigh, the Euro vs Greenback. Sorry for poor quality of photo.

Plus for this watch is 42 caliper or 42 mm in diameter. Lot of realestate.

That's not a bad looking watch. I'll admit, though, that I think a big part of the appeal that the Omega has for me is that it isn't just a custom finish on one of their standard watches. It's a watch that is only available for new purchase by military pilots. Maybe that's just my pride coming out, but I like the idea of owning something that is only available to me and others like me who have put forth the extreme effort required to wear wings.

... the appeal that the Omega ....

You misconstrue, I am but a professional muddier of the waters. I posted as an indicator of what others are doing, albeit small sample. Fortis is a fine watch, pricey.

Without reservation I would agree that the Omega X-33 is the best choice. Omega is a fine watch. I still have the Omega that I purchased circa 1957. It still runs, accurate time, without a blemish, original, save a crystal replaced several times.

Thank God for Kidney Stone Medical Waivers
Something that could work is a watch with pilot wings on the face, and a different watch with NFO wings on the face. Just a thought, and a post to see if anyone else would be interested.

Any input is appreciated!

You are finally upgrading.

Just to brief you guys, we ordered our watches late April last year and this is where our order stands, still don't have the watches...

Dear LCDR XXXXXXX,
The casebacks for the watches are still not complete. The casebacks sent to the engraver could not be used and we are awaiting additional parts from the manufacturer. The delay will be at least an additional
3-4 weeks until they will be able to ship to me since the watches will need to go through QC prior.
Unfortunately, I cannot discount the watches any further. The best that I can offer to help defray the cost from you and also expedite to the recipients is Omega will ship direct to each participant. If there is anyone that wishes to cancel the order, I understand and will have your money refunded.

Personally, even if the wait is a few months (ok, more like over half a year) it would be well worth it. Just like Sly was saying, there is quite an appeal considering its only available to "us" (yeah, I know I've had wings for a week, but I'm in the club!)
