After doing some thinking...and drinking;)...if someone will get the basic list together for the NFO's, I'd be willing to act as the POC for them as well. I just don't want to go banging doors down trying to get 15 of you together.

Cheers. Back to your regularly scheduled cocktail, already in progress...:)

It's interesting, my watch has some subtle differences than the one you posted there. Mine has a bit more flare on it (painted/jewled 12 o'clock/6 o'clock mark, different winder thingy, and the finish on the back is different). Personally I like mine better, but makes me wonder which is the current "model."
There are two versions of the X-33; yours was the first with the shiny bezel, knurled crown, and shiny pushers. Version two came along later; the bezel is now matte with a luminous dot at 12 o'clock, the bezel is ringed (to make pulling it out easier) and matte pushers (as shown in both pics; and yes, that is an actual pic of my watch w/ red kevlar strap).

Also, maybe Scoober already stated it, but if you use the NA wings, all you need is 10 people (i.e., if they already have NFO wings on file as well, you may need only 9 more people, mwardakpsi).

BTW Harrier Dude; AFAIK someone can order more than one strap so you could prob put in your 50 bucks plus tax and order one.

I'm in for the strap, then. Anyone want to HABU?

BTW.....for those of you who can't decide whether to get the kevlar strap or the titanium.......get both. I did, and I'm glad. I wear mine everyday. I use the strap for working environments (cockpit, etc) and the titanium for more formal events. Changing it is a little bit of a pain, but I rarely need to do it. My thoughts when I bought it was that since I'd never seen one up close before (i.e. got to play with it in person) I didn't know which one I would like better. Seeing as it was the most expensive watch I'd ever owned, and by a large margin....even with the group rate....it was worth it to me to get both.

I did the exact same thing.

That's cheating! You mean you don't have to almost pull a nail back just to change the time? Talk about going soft...

Seeing as how I just bought my new watch I've been wanting, I would have to go with the Omega since it's cheaper.

Count me in for one though.

Ok guys...here's the deal. The official group buy thread will go up after a phone call to Omega on Tuesday. There are a couple of details that I want to confirm before I start taking information etc...from people.

I am going to verify:

1. Whether or not both NA wings and NFO wings are pre-existing designs. (that Omega has already done) If this is the case, we will only have to get 10 people for each design.

2. Doublecheck pricing and shipping cost from Omega.

3. I need to get an online contract from them that each of you will have to print and sign and return to me guaranteeing that you will not resell your watch for 5 years. Omega already has this as a Word doc. but I need to get it to send around to participants.

4. I am going to verify the process for getting extra bands (as requested by a few members). It won't be a problem, but I want to find out whether a current watch purchaser needs to purchase them, or if it is alright to have a standalone order for the bands.

If you have other questions that you feel are pressing, please post them up here so I can ask Omega on Tuesday. (Contact is out of the office on Monday)

Like I said, after that phone call I will post an "Official Group Buy" thread and we will be on our way. Expect contracts before the end of the week. I am willing to accept input on a deadline for requests...obviously it will be based on getting the requisite number of orders first and foremost...but after that it really comes down to how soon do you want your watch!

For all those who have confirmed that they will be "in" either in this thread or in email, expect a contact from me sometime early this week.

If you are on the fence, I highly reccomend getting in on this. Take a look at Ebay...these watches are worth much more than we are paying. They are a really high quality item. I had reservations prior to seeing one in person having always been a traditional watch guy...however after seeing one, they are a highly functional, sharp looking piece of gear. Trust me, you can come up with this money somehow, and I really believe you will regret it if you don't.

Also, I think that Squeeze was trying to get the bracelet, so anybody only interested in the kevlar my be able to swing the same deal with him.

HD called it. I need a titanium bracelet. I was stupid and only ordered the kevlar strap. I've been less than successful trying to order one on my own. Count me in for a Ti bracelet if this gets enough traction.

Is there anyone who is not set on the X-33 that would like a speedmaster professional instead? I am more of a fan of stainless steel watches for their ease of repair in comparison to titanium. A steel band may only need to be buffed out where you would have been forced to get a new band if it were titanium.

Also, are the Omega choices in the poll cost driven or just preference to the X-33? Not trying to question your choices, I would just like this effort I put out to satisfy as many people as possible, even if we go with different brands/styles.

NFO wings

These are the images Omega has used in the past. I got them from Omega last year when I wanted to spearhead a watch buy at work. Didn't get enough response from the various bubbas.

I have had the Ti band on my watch the whole time and I've had the watch for over 5 years. I've worn my watch almost everyday for at least the last 3 years. I had some very minor scratches on the clasp, otherwise my band is still looks great and is in no disrepair. I don't swim, run, or (when it was an issue) wear it on the boat, otherwise it's been getting quite a bit of use.

Speedmaster Pro is not an option. The X33 is the only watch offered by Omega under this program. Trust me...I asked.:D
