An O-4 tried to get a group togather for the X-33 deal with our squadron logo, but that failed. I think Omega has the pilot wings as an existing format- if so, it would take less of a group size to get the purchase. I'm in for one with pilot wings on the back as well.

I'm definitely interested...Omega rocks.

I also like the Breitling Emergency series.

Until then I guess I'll keep rocking my G-Shock. Holla!

I'm down. Either way, but my vote is for Breitling. The logistics of doing a batch of 50, coordinated over the internet is kind of daunting, no?

It will be a pain in the ass for the POC for the project, no doubt about it. But, in the end it would be worth it for the $$ savings, in addition to the fact that you would have a unique watch. It should move quickly if people are serious.

In addition I would gladly contribute to a beer fund for the POC for all of his or her troubles.

Alright...Thanks to a little help from HercDriver and some additional research, I've gotten some details on the current Omega group buy program. This is the one I am most interested in for a number of reasons. The X-33 is no longer available to the general public and is only available via this program, I like the watch alot more than I used to having seen it in person, and there are rumblings that this program may end soon. The only watch available is the X33. The discount is unbelievable. Here are the highpoints.

- Min. Order is 15 watches.
- One logo per watch. (There goes the combined idea)
- One watch per purchaser. (No friend sales)
- Must agree not to sell for 5 years.

Pricing

-X-33 on Kevlar: $650
-X-33 on titanium: $800
-X-33 on titanium + spare Kevlar: $850
-Kevlar strap only: $50 Straps come in black, green and red
-Titanium strap only: $200 Shipping per watch $20
-Name or callsign engraved on watch $25

There is sales tax charged on the entire total based on the state the watches are shipped to.

Alright....that said, I will (kick myself in the ass for saying this...) be willing to act as a POC for a Pilot group buy on these. NFO's...sorry...one is enough for a lowly CAT I...however I will work with someone else to help out with a two-anchor buy. I would like to keep it simple for me personally...and so unless someone can come up with something else compelling...I am leaning towards simply NA wings on the back. I am going to pony a little extra up and get my winging date on the back.

So...PM or post with questions. I will update you guys with numbers and we'll get it figured out together. Mods...this may require a seperate thread. Let's get it done. (The buy that is....;)

I am in for the X-33 on titanium. I will see if anyone in my squadron is interested in it also.

Scoob, "one logo per watch"? Does that mean per order group of 15?

Yes. Each group of 15 must share the same logo. I had mentioned earlier in the thread that it might be an idea to get NA and NFO wings on the same watch to increase numbers (think 50 for the Breitling) for the buy. Shouldn't be a big issue here, however it does mean that the NFO's will have to come up with their own quorum.

Glad to help...actually I've sent out this info on at least 5 different occasions. With you posting it I can simply give a gruff "use the search function".:)

Also, for anyone purchasing the Omega (or any watch for that matter), always get the bracelet (metal watchband) if available when ordering a watch. You can always get a kevlar strap later, but it is $989.00 for the bracelet later, on the open market:

(The kevlar is 169.00 open market, BTW)

The embossed/engraved wings turn out pretty sharp.

So with the divide, am I the only NFO that would like to do a custom watch or are there more out there?

Living the dream
I already have one, but my kevlar strap is worn out. I'd be down for just the strap, or if somebody else doesn't want one (i.e. they only want the titanium bracelet) I'd be happy to pay the difference.

Also, I think that Squeeze was trying to get the bracelet, so anybody only interested in the kevlar my be able to swing the same deal with him.

For future reference, I have the absolute gouge on getting these things serviced/fixed. They did it for me for free long after my warantee expired. Details available to those that need help by PM.

For those of you who don't have one of these watches yet....go for it. I love mine and have never met anybody who doesn't love theirs.

I do like the Breitling, but the Omega is in my price range (Breitlings are over a month of Manatee Food in cost for the cheapest option).

The X-33 looks nice, I'm in for one with both straps and my callsign/winging date on the back. What the hell. I need a "nice" watch instead of just the same $20 Timex I wear everywhere.

It's interesting, my watch has some subtle differences than the one you posted there. Mine has a bit more flare on it (painted/jewled 12 o'clock/6 o'clock mark, different winder thingy, and the finish on the back is different). Personally I like mine better, but makes me wonder which is the current "model."

Here's mine. The band will scratch the back a bit when you take it off.

They're nice...Quite accurate, too.
