It just sounds like he was following the guidance until the guidance changed. Same thing happened in the military; before the updated guidance, getting the vaccine didn't technically buy us much of anything, since we were still bound by the FRAGORD and HPCON C restrictions to keep wearing a mask.
But whatever, at least maybe he'll stop wearing two masks now.
He could have said “I don’t need to wear a mask but I’ll continue to do so just to set the right example”. But instead he kept telling a Senator, under oath, that it wasn’t just theater and that masks were still very important to protect people after they’d been infected or gotten the vaccine. But he’s been adjusting the truth the whole time. Further, he’s not just following guidance, he’s the one setting it. There’s a difference. People are taking what he says and does as gospel.
