I watched an interview with a professor of infectious diseases. Korea University College of Medicine. He suggests that South Korea (and probably Japan) have populations much more disciplined and knowledgeable about pandemics. He suggests that normal masks, while not 100% effect, are at least partially effective in slowing the spread.
Normal skepticism should be applied, but worth a watch, especially if you are sitting around doing nothing.

uh, for anyone who has ever been to Japan, they are very compliant. Even during the tsunami, no cases of vandalism or looting. It's a manner of honor. Compare this to New Orleans during Katrina.
I live in FL and deal with these f*ckturd spring breakers who have caused untold infections.
For what it's worth, Japan has not been testing very much at all. There is some concern that a major problem is brewing under Japan's nose.
With that said, Japanese culture is already culturally in tune with what to do - compliance, social order, wearing masks, staying away from other people wherever possible.
