AW Zaps....post a pic of your sighting...

I thought that for an aircraft to qualify as a zap-able target, it had to be one to which you would not generally have access (for example, the two Italian H-1's that came to visit our squadron that left with a Kaman SH-2F sticker on their bellies). Also, the actual placing of the zap required some sort of daring-do common to Naval Aviators (for example, an aircraft under guard for some reason or another).

Which is why the Blues or the T-Birds qualify handily...

Or similar to the Coast Guard HH-65 from Air Station Savannah, that after they zapped our aircraft (in an easily found place) - we returned the favor with one on their tail... High enough that they had to fly back to Savannah with it there.

Or the USS Gator Freighter, that as we flew off - the squadron logos painted on their flight deck became visible...

I bought 10, you want one of them?

John

John, you should add a "how did you hear about this site" type question to new registrants. It would interesting to see how many folks click because of the stickers.

Apparently its a dinner with the "movers and shakers" of Krock. King ranch, oil, Navy, Navy Leauge, etc...

Casual at the CO or Commodore's house. Free booze. So I am in.

And the guy who lives in the Puma is a "mover and shaker"? Aren't they taking that a little too literally? Just because your house can be moved and it shakes when you walk through it or the wind blows shouldn't be a qualifier :)

So what exactly is the tradition of the "zap?" Is it a pretty universal thing that all naval aviators would know, or is it a small privileged group?
