Looks like I'll be heading to OCS for this class date. Any other NFO/Aviators going?
@Morgan Murphy SNA here.

Personally I don't think going home after only 2 months of being gone and about a month and a half left is worth the money.

My SNA buddy from out here in CA, almost two years out of OCS, had class from 10NOV–16FEB or so. He opted for Christmas off and saw his family at extended family's house in VA. He said our timing is interesting because it is consistently disrupted by holidays. What you mentioned about the lightened workload on Thanksgiving also stands for other Federal holidays like Veteran's Day (first couple days there), as well as MLK Jr Day (Jan 18, i think). He said it makes it feel as though it goes by very quickly.

Also, his recommendation was that if you did take the leave and say, travel back across the country for Xmas, make sure you have a buffer time for weather/ freak stuff that could inhibit your prompt return. I will probably come back out here for the Xmas break if it is feasible, more for my Mom's sake than my own. But most I have spoken to about it say it is a nice opportunity to charge your batteries.

Im hoping to make a trip to new York for new years!
If I don't get back for Xmas, though, I'm in for this^

Thanks for the insight! Youre definitely welcome to come with along with any other classmates! I definitely understand the opportunity to recharge batteries by going home.

all of the appendix B stuff is fair game according to a few of my buddies who have been through OCS (one in 2013, one earlier this spring). My OR didn't tell me anything other than, "Congratulations on your acceptance." but the general consensus is the better you know the app b info, the less difficult OCS may be at the beginning. same with physical preparation. Their advice WRT the songs and gyms is that you will learn them quickly due to the repetition, so don't make them your focus.

I got the same "Congratulations on your acceptance" as haimehh did, but they gave me a small book named Naval Officer Delayed Entry Program Guide to Success. It covers the basic stuff (exercises, ranks/rates, general info, etc) that's needed for OCS but it's nothing that can't be found on the internet.
