23JUN25 IWC BOARD

Great insights, all! Don't want to tie you down with too many questions, but in your experience working with applicants, how far-reaching was that inclination to limit the number of waivers accepted? Did it apply to just waivers for criteria specifically outlined in the program authorization (GPA, OAR, TIS, etc.), or to any kind of waiver, full-stop? I’m thinking here more in terms of RE-Code waivers (which I know is pretty broad on its face, considering the number of different reasons folks might have separated from service). But if an applicant, say, submits a package with a RE-Code waiver because they separated a few weeks early to attend a civilian school (still honorably discharged), do you think the board would regard that waiver similarly to waivers for things like GPA, OAR score, etc.?
Any non medical waivers as it is quite broad. The number limited to this known to NRC and not publicized for a reason.

Good evening all,

I won’t lie, this wait has been killing me. I’d like to share some information and get a second opinion on my chances. I applied for MCWO and IP:
  • BS in Computer Science concentrating in Cybersecurity (3.24 GPA)
  • 56 OAR
  • No relevant work experience
  • Sec+ Certification
  • One medical waiver (Hodgkins Lymphoma five years ago)
  • 21 years old
I would consider myself cautiously optimistic. But considering the quality of the applicants in this thread, perhaps I’m just cautious now. Anyway, good luck fellow applicants!

Good luck to you as well! I did want to let you know that the MCWO OCM told me directly that all FY-25 and FY-26 quotas have been met and they aren't planning to have the next MCWO board until POSSIBLY October. I was very upset to receive this information, and I didn't get it until I had already submitted my package, so I'm trying to let as many people know as I can. If you plan to wait for MCWO, it may be beneficial to utilize your knowledge base and skills to pursue additional cybersecurity-focused certifications. This might be able to help offset that work experience piece.

I was just told by my recruiter that my application for IP says it’s at the board. I am a civilian applicant and was curious to know since someone in the earlier thread said ours would be pushed back to the August board

Mine is saying the same thing (also civilian applicant). I'm just putting positive thoughts into the universe until I officially hear otherwise!
