Hey everyone, got the date for NOV 16. I’ve heard it could be done but not sure. Basically, trying to leave sooner, like August or September. My wife is pregnant and due in January and i won’t make the birth. Havnt missed me three others and this is the last so I’d like to see the last. I hear the NRC can hash things out. Is that something that can be done? My recruiter did tell me that he was able to get his other selectee a September date because she has a wedding in the summer. Also, if it can be done, are those details worked out before or after I sign the paperwork? Any input/advice is greatly appreciated.

Wondering what to do about my job. I teach at a school and a date in writing would be great so I know how to plan out the next steps. Seeing people’s experience with dates I’m a bit scared to inform administrators of selection and they hire for next year without a concrete date/contract that I’m going.

At the end of the day you need to take care of yourself. I wouldn’t put yourself in a bind in which you left your job too early and need money/insurance before shipping out.

Don’t put yourself in a situation where it’ll hurt you. You should talk to the school staff and let them know about your situation and dates may change. I’ve seen it happen before at schools where the faculty will work with you and be flexible on when you leave. The worse that’ll happen is they say no which I doubt they would do.

It may be a step down from what you are being paid now, but if you do run into problems with admin, maybe you could switch to being a substitute teacher next year for a few months allowing yourself some more freedom to do what you need. Or they could keep you on temporarily as a longer term sub somewhere else in the school as their main substitute. I am a long-term sub rn through EduStaff and the school has been extremely accommodating with everything I have had to do for the Navy. I can still substitute for a few weeks next year a little bit if I want to before I leave mid-September.

Hey everyone, as of now I’m slotted for 16NOV2025 OCS. Long story short, my wife is pregnant and due January. Would anyone who got SNAP and has August or September dates wanna swap?
