It's all class team dependent. We didn't get vitamins, cough drops until after Drill Comp (then again we stacked bodies in drill). Other classes didn't get anything until Candio phase unless they had a chit.

April 2014 SNA and NFO Board

Yep mine was before I was Pro-Y and I got a clearance before the board met.

leave for OCS in 2 weeks and still no orders

No they don't. Orders are what you need to report to OCS.
  4. M

leave for OCS in 2 weeks and still no orders

No you need orders that state you go to OCS and upon completion you will be commissioned an Ensign under the Pilot designator.

Just depends if you can get with the program and not suck...mainly at drill.
  6. M

April 2014 SNA and NFO Board

Nope quite the opposite. I was just completely honest on it and didn't submit it until I was 100% certain that it was correct.

PQ is physically qualified by N3M. Then you have an even more in depth physical at OCS (if SNA). If you sent them in then you only need your background check in a "open" status. Some people get interviews I never heard from anyone. Most people that I know that got an interview missed something...

Great advice lol. I spent half of RLP on the General Orders of a Sentry because my inspector kept cutting me off and making me either get on my back, face or run in place with my rifle. Also DO NOT forget your rifle number and if you finish say i.e the General Orders start it over until they...

Your background check is based off of when they send in your fingerprints and SF86. I can tell you that mine was submitted last May before my package and I got a secert 3 days later.

You know that its just a status right? Basically you are waiting for the PM's signature. Until it's signed you don't have a date or FS.

The PT at OCS isn't bad it's the mental game that will get people. I know quite a few AW people that DOR'd because of the mental.
  13. M

April 2014 SNA and NFO Board

You will have a brief on it before you ever do it. Just focus on getting accepted and staying in shape that's all you control.
  14. M

April 2014 SNA and NFO Board

Not at all. You are asking about specifics that really don't matter because in the end your class team can decide what is right or wrong. Do a few pfa's and just be in shape. There is nothing more you can do. Honestly a good workout for OCS is insanity. But hey do what you feel is right.
  15. M

April 2014 SNA and NFO Board

You want answers before OCS? There are none because it's all a mental game. Sorry I went through OCS and now understand it. You are worried to much about something you can control. Even if you do a perfect push up they will find something wrong if they decide to mess with you.
  16. M

April 2014 SNA and NFO Board

Lol it's a push-up. Toes on the ground and elbows at 90 degrees. You will be corrected by your class team.
  17. M

April 2014 SNA and NFO Board

To stay in the navy. Just stay in shape. Trust me get your PFA scores up because they will fall when you are sleep deprived and DI's eyeball you.

Lol. I hope that statement isn't serious. HAHA selection?! Just finish OCS.

    The Officer Recruiter is in...

True. I went to meps twice. Once for the physical second for a psych consult. But I went astray to tell them I had a heart murmur. Needless to say my recruiter wasn't pleased. But it worked for both of us in the end.
  20. M

Not so much. Could be age and their backgroud (i.e. drug waivers).
  21. M

April 2014 SNA and NFO Board

You would be surprised. I know more people in API now that have failed the exams that have flight experience. It is not what you know or have learned it is what Big Navy says.

    Re-designating at OCS (VERY IMPORTANT)

    That's not uncommon.
  24. M

You have a year to apply and get in. You should be good.
  25. M

I haven't heard of any non priors getting an age waiver. Ya he got NPQ because he turned 27 a day before graduation.
  26. M

    Final Select Purgatory

Just work out, study appendix B and enjoy your freedom. You can't control when you get your FS. It'll come when it comes. Spend time with family because it will be a wake up call when you are stripped away of everything in your norm.

My "now" in the statement was because you could get selected for SWO with it as an applicants third choice not so much anymore. But yes I agree he should reapply if he wants a Commission. Also look into IDC since he does have a Mathmatics Degree.
  34. M

JAN/FEB/MAR 2014 Rolling SNA and SNFO Boards

I think it was more because of his age. I believe he would have needed to be in a March class before aging out of Aviation, so there was a very small turn around time and OCS classes may already be filled. As for SWO I believe it was because he had it as his third choice. Right now it rare to be...

To everyone aspiring to go into OCS: Why pursue military life vs civilian life?

Personally I did not want to get stuck in the civilian sector. I was originally selected for Veterinary School out of my undergraduate studies. I wanted to do something that no one in my family has done and that is serve my country as a Commissioned Officer. On top of that I am still young and...

  43. M

JAN/FEB/MAR 2014 Rolling SNA and SNFO Boards

Your recruiter doesn't have that much say. I mean there is a section of your application where he/she writes an observation about you and that can be good or bad. As far a waivers I knew some people while at OCS that had a drug or underage drinking waiver not for a DUI. Mistakes do have a way of...

    What exactly does that mean?
  46. M

JAN/FEB/MAR 2014 Rolling SNA and SNFO Boards

Need for pilots and they select for attrition. Flight school is actually a weed out till advanced although more make it through than attrite. But if you just got Pro-Y your focus should be preparing for OCS.
  47. M
