AWESOME! So he wouldn't get in the shark infested water, while the rescue swimmer himself is in it? I mean, I have a fear of sharks (oddly enough they're one of my favorite animals to study), but that's just funny.

CHUM = Chart Update Manual Problem is, they don't actually publish it anymore as far as I know (at least that's what our ONAV instructor told us). It's all electronic on Falcon View. I could be mistaken.

And I'm willing to bet that person ended up damaging the accused reputations, careers, and maybe lives. I remember a case at I believe Brown University, where a male student was accused of rape by a fellow female student. Long story short, it turned out she was flat out lying and he was 100%...

Absolutely. But remember who also generates the bad press, which is such a big player today.

Are you serious? This is a true story? Military or no military, what a C***. A person like that has no business being a warfighter, let alone walk around in society. Good lord.

    Great Device

I use the Swiss Army Renegade. Why? I've had one since Freshman year of High School, and have yet to break one (I've lost 2 though, my fault). It's a very simple watch, but it serves its purpose... to tell me the damn time and date.

    Electrical Circuit Questions.

I hate using E for Volts. It stands for electrical potential (which is what a measurement of Volts is), but I'm still brainlocked on E meaning energy, as in Joules.

Wow. That right there is absolutely ridiculous. Does she get offended when she sees them in a sporting goods store? It's a piece of equipment, for christ sake. It protects a very vulnerable area. I bet she leaves feminine products in view. That doesn't offend anyone. Fucking over-sensitive...

Yep, harassment is part of the package. The simulator instructors don't really hate you (though they sure seem it sometimes). If you get yelled at in the jet, it's most likey because you did something dangerous, didn't realize it, and yelling is a VERY effective way to make you not do something...

Yeah, that statement really isn't qualified. But, they're going to be closer to straight-and-level, long range navigation (i.e. airliners) than say... a helo or something else. I'm not saying flying a C-5 is like flying civilian, that would be stupid.
  18. Fly Navy

    Words of wisdom

There are guys that come from aviation academies that DO believe that though.... they don't last long, especially considering civilian flying is nowhere close to military flying, unless maybe if you fly C-5s or something.

That SWO Captain is wise. With that said... So now you can charge sexual harassment if you overheard a conversation you shouldn't have been listening to in the first place that offended you? I want to know exactly what he said. Anyone know? Anyone know the atmosphere there? Are there a crop...

    Deployed MEU's getting M-4 Carbine?

Huge difference. The best analogy I have is this: You have really soft sand and a wood stick. What happens when you jam the wood stick quickly into the sand? It breaks and doesn't really penetrate. What happens if you steadily push on the stick into the sand? It penetrates without breaking...

    Deployed MEU's getting M-4 Carbine?

I was just wondering because 7.62x51mm doesn't reach its maximum penetration capability until about 200-300m. This is why Myth Busters fucked up the "can you get shot underwater" or whatever it was. They were shooting at point blank ranges. Big difference. True Soviet weapons, or were they...

Some news for all you blame the media types

Money is all powerful. I have a hard time having respect for anyone working the journalistic fields, due to how shitty that area has become in the past years. The good guys need to turn that around... I don't see that happening though.
  31. Fly Navy

    Deployed MEU's getting M-4 Carbine?

You're right, the reports show that in Iraq, most engagements are in the 100m range, or less. In Afghanistan this is not always the case. They have seen some much longer range engagements, 300m+. That 20" barrely comes in handy there, as past 300m, the 14.5" barrels really suffer. True. A...

    Deployed MEU's getting M-4 Carbine?

An M-4 with a 20" barrel is not really an M-4 anymore. It's just a short handguard long barrel... would look weird. M-4 = 14.5" barrel (16" for civilian unless you go the NFA route), short handguards, collapsable stock, and in the A1 variant, a removable carry handle. Oh, and one of them...

    Airsickness problems

The T-34 uses bottled O2, and the system automatically mixes the 100% with ambient air to create a proper oxygen mix. You have the option of going 100% with the flick of a switch. The T-45 is an OBOGS system and we breathe 99% all the time.
  36. Fly Navy

    Airsickness problems

I breathe 99% O2 on a daily basis in the T-45, 1.2-1.5 hours at a time. 100% O2 can lead to problems if you get contaminated (i.e. nitrogen) up at altitude. You'll get issues with decompression and such.
  37. Fly Navy

    Airsickness problems

100% O2 is your friend. I only got queasy twice in the T-34, and both times, sucking O2 for a couple minutes made it all better. When you're feeling like shit and the IP still makes you fly at the controls, that's for your benefit. It actually helps. If you're just a passenger, you're much more...

    [GUN] 357 or 45?

    Now that's the truth.
  40. Fly Navy

    Think Iraq didnt train terrorists??

Iraq had WMDs right until Bush came into office, then the whole world said they didn't have WMDs. We haven't found anything of substance, so maybe they didn't have them. Then again, they managed to bury MiG-25s in the sand... what else did they bury or sell.
  41. Fly Navy

    [GUN] 357 or 45?

Love the 1911, but I'd put the SIG ahead of it due to its ease of field stripping. Personal preference though, cause seriously, like we've said, you can't go wrong with either.

Friend's cousin of mine is gay. Funny guy, but he's ACTUALLY bi-sexual. Uses the "I'm gay, I'm safe with your girl" routine all the time, then makes a move. Works. Every. Time.
