    Nfo To Pilot Prk Question

For most communities, you will have to do a tour in your a/c before they will let you transition...Then, it's a numbers game...If they are hard up for pilots, you will pick it up. If not, stay where you are. Trust me, a FO's life is awesome...Leave the driving to the monkeys...

    E-2 Bubbas Chime In

OK, question number 2 other than living...I got fitted for a g-suit and harness today. Now I know I'm not going to be pullin mad G's in the E-2 so what gives...? Also, does that mean we cross train in other jets? Let me know.

    E-2 Bubbas Chime In

THe city of Norfolk sounds more like me. Frankly, I am sick of living near the beach (if you can believe that). I could use some city time...So, my price range pretty much relies on my BAH...The other guys who are coming up there are married or have already secured roomates...So, where is a good...

    E-2 Bubbas Chime In

OK, so I am heading to Norfolk right after Christmas...Are there any places that I NEED to look at. I am a city kid and frankly am sick of the college style apts. of Pcola...Any suggestions on where to look? Let me know.

    E-2 Bubbas Chime In

Yeah, my brother lived in Ghent and I liked that a lot so maybe I will go there. Is there a spot where a lot of the E-2 bubbas live? I know here in Pensacola, we all seemed to live out the back gate/Perdido...Is there a similiar place in Norfolk?

    E-2 Bubbas Chime In

Hey guys, Well, it looks like it doesn't matter what I wanted, they selected me for E-2's anyway...Any of you guys know of a good place to live up there?
  9. G

    E-2 Bubbas Chime In

Yeah, I have talked to a few of the E-2 bubbas. I have just always thought that I was going to head prowlers but now that there is a draft on in Pcola for E-2's, I have to get my brain around the possibility that I will be heading to Norfolk. I just want to get an idea of what's going to happen...

    Powell Resigns

Gen. Powell disagreed with Pres. Bush about Iraq...He didn't want to send them but towed the line his boss put out. He's not leaving in a time of turmoil because the kitchen got too hot. I honestly think that he was at odds with the administration on all fronts and didn't want to do it anymore...

    Female FO's

All I know is that the female fo's here kick butt...Nothing to it. From what I see, they consistently do better than the fellas. Don't know why...I guess us guys are just lazy...Definitely a possiblility. I sure a heck am.

    Summary of NFO flight school

Ok, as for where you are living as a fo, do NOT live near whiting in Milton. You will do all of your hops out of NASP. What I would do is get a copy of the Gosport, it's the NAS newspaper, they usually have homes for rent/sale. You will have to check them out. As for selection, it's a...

    E-2 Bubbas Chime In

Hey guys, I am about to I-grad and am deciding on whether to stay in pcola for jets or go to Norfolk...After talking to a bunch of strike guys, that sounds like the choice for me...However, I am still interested in e-2's. Can you guys tell me what it's all about? Most guys here aren't too...

    NFOs in demand this year?

NFO's can transition to pilots after their first fleet tour...There are a lot of requirements but it's possible. Just don't tell your IP's that you REALLY wanted to be a pilot...They might not like that too much...

    NFOs in demand this year?

    NFOs in demand this year?

I don't know...maybe things have changed...but a year and a half ago, when I selected, aviation slots were few and far between. I had to claw to my FO slot...But numbers could have changed...oh well...my 2 cents.

    T-34 Fuel Quantity Indicators

You know what? It really doesn't matter...Just remember to tap the gauges prior to a cruise check...You might find yourself up to fifty pounds low...Trust me, it happens...Scared the crap out of me...I personally think there is a sadistic hamster controlling it all, but I could be wrong.

switch from pilot to NFO advice

Hey, if you are thinking about being a FO, get out there and TALK to one. Trust me, it's not easier or cooler than being a pilot...It's just different..We do different things while the pilots are busy getting us there. Most guys you meet on this forum will be biased one way or the other...So go...

    When Are We Coming Back

Hey Guys, any word on when we will be coming back to train? I have heard scuttlebutt that they are going to move us to a different base to train...I am guessing that's not true. If any of you guys have info, share it. I can't be in Pensacola for another summer, one is enough. Later, Goplay

    API Class - September 10th?

And as for the swimming. I wouldn't worry too much about it. I swim just about as well as a boulder with weights tied to it and I passed. If you can't do it, they will take the time to make sure you can do it. Don't worry, it doesn't hurt your grades or anything. As for the classes, don't worry...

    Wear to Watch Football

Yeah, I guess Damons it is. I tell ya, all the talk about Minnesota being back and Favre going to give it one last try makes me want to puke. The Bears are the Dark Horse in this division. Just wait and see. Hopefully, for once in history, a Florida quarterback can prove himself in the pros...

    NFO NSS Question

The number of people who want heavies varies from class to class. NFO NSS Question

OK, so I found out that someone in my class will be drafted...Here's the thing though. NROTC interview

OK, I have actually done these interviews and the kids I see apply generally screw up in two areas. 1. They are nervous and just don't talk to me. The guys above are right. Another NAMI question!

I have never heard of that ever happening. Usually, it's anthro and eyesight that busts people down here. Have you already had a flight physical...? If so, then the NAMI shouldn't be a problem unless you have issues with the anthro and sight stuff. Good luck.

    NFO NSS Question

OK, so I am pretty much done with Primary and I went to STUCON to check out my NSS. I score at about a 60. I know that is good but here's the question...Is there a chance that they would keep me for jets/E-2's even though I want P-3's because my score it too high? It's not like I would...

    College Academic Preparation

Yeah, gouge is only good for API. After that, you gotta hit the books. I am in the FO world, but the test got easier in Primary...Guess that was because I actually cared how I did. College Academic Preparation

I would say as long as you can do basic (adding and subtracting) math in your head, you will be fine. The rest you will have to learn when you get down here. I agree. Had I studied like this in college, I would have definitely had a higher GPA.
  37. G

STUPID questions about life as a Naval Flight Officer (NFO)

OK, so three questions. What is the percentage breakdown for FO's in the command. How many get P-3's, EP-3's, and E-6's respectively. How long is training in San Antonio? And is all the FO does in the beginning is Airnavs? Is there any tactical stuff to do or are you bound to your Nav table? Let...

    Jets Jets Jets

Yeah, don't go to Vance or Moody. Primary is enough of a problem without having to deal with the AF system. Trust me, when you sit in the hot seat in Enid, you will know. I hear that briefs are conducted with the flight commander and every other student...If you screw up one discuss item, you...

What aircraft do NFO's fly in?

I second that one. Fly the planes and then you can talk. I believe that once you get in, there is a healthy amount of respect for what each person (pilot/FO) has for eachother. We both know that the other is essential to the mission. Frankly, looking at pilots, I can't believe that they are able...

    SWO spots?

From what I hear, SWO depends mainly on your wardroom. Look, you are going to get your *** chewed from time to time. Well, most of the time. My friends out of ROTC told me that they felt that it was not a day unless they got yelled at so expect that. SWO's eat their young. But if you look on the...

What aircraft do NFO's fly in?

Also, in my humble opinion, at least in the training command, there is very little competition if any at all. Basically, everyone is there to help everyone else out. I can't speak for the pilots but I hear the rumors. In the FO world, everyone wants everyone else to succeed. I think this is...

What aircraft do NFO's fly in?

I'll chime in. First, F-14's and S-3's are officially closed to students so if you had any dream about flying those, can them. Second, I chose NFO because I like working with people. As the FO, you are pretty much always going to be working in the plane with a group. That's what I wanted to do...

STUPID questions about life as a Naval Flight Officer (NFO)

I have talked with P-3 guys. One guy could stop talking about per diem. Well, that's great but I want to know about the JOB you know?? I talked to another guy and he said he hated it because the mission went away. I don't know. Basically, I get airsick a lot and want that to stop. I like the P-3...

STUPID questions about life as a Naval Flight Officer (NFO)

P-3 Fo's OK, so I select in about two weeks and am undecided. I have heard a lot of great things about the "P-3 lifestyle". You know, Car Per Diem and all that stuff. What I really want to know is what does a P-3 FO actually do other then Navigate (obviously). Every P-3 bubba I have talked to...

Selecting in a week & still unsure...any regrets out there from those already winged?

HEy guys, I am a FO and I select in a couple weeks. Can any FO's chime in. Frankly I am 50/50 between P-3's and Jets. I have the grades to do both (I think) and I really don't know what to choose. Any thoughts?

    T-6 v T-34C

Well guys, if you are a FO, this topic is mute. All Fo's will get T-6's. Two classes behind me are the last ones to get T-34's. I don't know about pilots but it won't be an option for a FO. I personally think the T-34 is fine. Especially if you don't have any flight time. The fact of the matter...

    New BullSh!t ASTB

Just so you guys know, the ASTB is good for life. The only way it changes is if you retake the test. The new test isn't as bad as everyone says. Basically, it's just adding a verbal section. When you think about it, being able to have reading comprehension is pretty valuable when you consider...

    2 year NROTC

If you have the credits to graduate earlier, they will not give you a four year ride. I was a two year ROTC kid and I loved it. Basically, if you have the grades, you get the money. Then you go to NSI in Rhode Island. It's kinda like a mini-boot camp except you take all the ROTC classes you...
