I did a year at the one with 3,500 students that cost me $19k a semester, then I transferred to the one without a football team. Or I could have gone to the community college that just started offering 4 year degrees. Jacksonville University versus University of Michigan. Definitely a difference.

Avoid Jacksonville at all costs! The unit is pretty decent, but none of the three schools are REAL colleges.

More often than not, yes. Those who wanted to be pilots but were NPQ'd or didn't make the selection "get stuck" with a SNFO desig. But that's only among the ignorant mids who see FOs only as second fiddle players to pilots. I certaintly won't be disappointed if my selection comes back 1370.

Does prior flight time really count for selection from the Academy? From the NROTC side, I haven't even been asked if I have time logged. A CFII has the same chance as someone who thinks you steer on the taxiway with the stick.

Skip questions you don't know and go back to them. If you're running out of time (the time limits are actually pretty tight), guess. There is no penalty for wrong answers.

To echo brenbuck, I would retake it. Although you have a really competitive GPA, I would study and try to get a more competitive OAR too. With the economy the way it is, the Navy isn't exactly hurting for RL officers. So if you go in with the highest scores you can get, the more it'll help...

I have a Bachelor in Business Mgt. But like the guy Helolumpy knows, I could probably get the navy to pay for one of the required degrees once I really start thinking about it. That's like the LT I met at ASTC, but I can't figure out he did it.

Specifically, physiology. Is there a way to work in aerospace physiology without completely redesignating to medical? Would you need a four-year medical degree to do so? I've seen a few O-3s who have done this but wasn't able to ask them. Does anyone know when/how the switch could be made?

We had a few Ensigns who recently commissioned originally get orders to IRR for several months, then a month before graduation, they get orders to report to Pensacola within three weeks. I've also been told the NSS was super high a few months ago, and now they're hurting for pilots. Who knows...

As with anything in life, it is what you make of it. Those in my unit who decide they're having a "bad" experience usually drop from the program and shouldn't wear bars on their shoulders anyway. A lot of people join and few commission. Nothing against these people, it's just not for them.

I don't believe NROTC to be any easier than other commissioning sources. They all have their own perks and challenges. Having "typical college" roomates who constantly drink and smoke and rarely sleep before 5am while you have to get up at 0430 for PT makes for a long four years.

I doubt anyone since 2007 has had anything sent to them. I didn't.
