All of the VT squadrons have similar setups with Prepare3D (a Lockheed-licensed version of MSFS) running on high-end computer setups with VR googles. They're able to be linked so you and a buddy can go out and fly together.
My impression of them was that they'd be good for things like TACF...

And then everyone's mind is blown when you show up to advanced and verbalize like 5 things between manning up the jet and taking off...
...against a friendly Su-30. Oops!
“Alright for admin, any safeties of flight or training rule violations?”
“Uhhhh....”

Living in Pace/Milton is a lot more bearable now due to the advent of Uber. A normal weekend for my roommates and I used to be drive downtown for the nightly shenanigans, leave the car and Uber home, and then drive back the next day for brunch and retrieve the car.
The grass is always greener I guess, I would kill to go back to living in Pensacola after a couple of years in Meridian and staring at a future that will be spent mostly/entirely in Lemoore...
I know dudes that are 6’5” and didn’t anthro out of jets, and people way shorter than that who did. It depends way more on how your body is proportioned than how tall you are.
I'll throw a bone in here for OCS as well. If you are interested in flying for the Navy, OCS is the only route to guarantee yourself a pilot slot before signing on the dotted line. If you have the ability to pay for your college or are competitive for non-ROTC scholarships, and you know you 100%...
It's pretty not fun in Lemoore/Central Valley area, the norm the past couple of weeks has been shooting PARs to near mins and having to fly to fly 100mi offshore or to the far eastern side of the 2508 to find clear air.
It also smells like a giant campfire outside which I guess is an...
Yeah dude, I wouldn’t worry too much about it, VT TACFORM sucks. Even a BFM IP or two has been known to get queasy during those flights, especially if their stud really likes making accute corrections ;)
Glad you brought it back up, I think I ended up falling out in the middle of Season 4 so I'll have to give it another shot. Sounds like it may be a good one to add to my "stockpiling for deployment" TV show list...
Not to mention there’s a bug where the system will occasionally lock out your CAC. Happened to me a few weeks ago, had to go to PSD and get it unlocked. Plugged it back into the same computer and it locked it again before I even made it to the desktop screen....
Wouldn’t change anything about the flight suit, but I’d kill for the Navy to go back to the old green nomex jacket. The new ones they have been issuing look more like you’re wearing an oversized green burlap sack than a jacket...
I’ve had a lot of great days in the Navy, but the day I managed to “convince” some PRs into ordering me two extra green flight suits is definitely top 5.
That video is pretty mind blowing. I don’t know what’s crazier, the fact that they actually got that thing to move under Lego power or that there are adults, somewhere, that are getting paid to play with Legos all day :D
In normal times I'd say spend your time drinking on the beach, but...
Anyways, I would caution you against signing up for outside classes, based solely on the fact that wait times are always changing, and the ENS/2ndLt rumor mill is as about as accurate as you'd expect.
You don't want to put...
I think some of the larger Technic kits are pretty cool. I finished the Bugatti one recently and the level of detail was pretty astounding. The drivetrain/gearbox alone took close to 5 hours to build. The Technic kits are probably closer to model builds than they are to Legos IMO.
I used to tell myself I didn’t have a caffeine problem. “I only drink 3 cups a day” I thought.
And then I went to SERE and had a splitting headache for the first three days of field phase...
And so I did the rational thing and started drinking coffee again as soon as I finished the course.
I went with these. Super comfortable and look way better.

If anyone gives you any grief you can tactfully show them the regs. No where in there does it say "you shall wear Bates and only Bates"...
That's still the case in Primary, in Meridian everything was done in bags unless you really fucked something away and ended up standing duty as punishment.
Lots of good gouge on here. To add to it, down the road when you show up to a new squadron talk to the bros ahead and get the gouge on...
It will be interesting to see what happens in the next few years with regards to VT CQ, and how it impacts the follow on trainer. There’s been talk that since the F-35 only flies in Delta Path (PLM) at the boat, and the Super Hornet/Growler is heading that way, if it even makes sense to do CQ in...
I’m sure you’ve probably crossed paths with him at some point but one of our CIPs in Lemoore runs his own winery out of Paso if you’re looking for fellow oenophiles...

Take a look at an Aviation, one of my favorites (and not only because of the name ;))
Gin, Maraschino liqueur, lemon juice, and Creme de Violette (which can be tough to find but any large liquor store or Total Wine should stock it)
One of my buddies failed his IFS check ride after being unable to safely land because his onwing never spent any time instructing him in the landing pattern... At least from what I recall there was a pretty large quality spread amongst the different flight schools and instructors in the IFS...
I was under the impression we were talking about true Old Fashioned's (bourbon, bitters, single syrup). I certainly hope no one is talking about the abomination that is a mashed up fruit cocktail with bourbon poured over it that you see a lot nowadays. ;)
...and then when you go to the T-45 the standby is a peanut gyro the size of a half dollar that begins to precess after 5 minutes. :(
Don’t think it’s a stretch to say the T-6 has the most complete avionics package of anything you fly in the Strike pipeline.
From PIT originally, hometown paper reported that there are 96 planes stores there, with a capacity for up to 140 total. Apparently they closed one of the runways and are just parking them on it.
For those with Macs, CAC support seems much more built in and transparent with Catalina. Setup is super simple per the militarycac instructions, only gotcha I've noticed so far is you need to login from the lock screen using your CAC pin otherwise it won't recognize your card.
Of course now...
The biggest thing you can do to set yourself up for success in flight school is to worry about the things you can control. Show up prepared knowledge-wise, chairfly to give yourself extra reps, have a positive attitude and be receptive to instruction, and get practice sims as much as you can. If...
I think if you ask anyone on here 95% of them will say their time stashed in Pcola was one of the best parts of their careers. Enjoy it while you can.
It’s like when you’re 5 and you hate taking naps but when you grow up all you want is to go back to an age where it’s acceptable to take naps...
Can’t answer your other questions but as to T-45 health, it’s not great right now. The engine developed a penchant for throwing LPT blades and it’s really limiting jet availability. I got through the whole syllabus in 14 months which was about normal but that was before all of the current...
Had the chance to drive one a few years ago, Insanity mode (now Ludicrous mode) is absolutely bonkers. Cool tech but the can’t imagine spending $50k+ on a Model 3 that has a worse interior than a $20k VW...
Pretty interesting take from a Ford engineer...
You get an interim secret at OCS, and if you select a pIpeline at the end of Primary that needs a TS they’ll start it then.
To be honest the process is more annoying for your friends and family than it is for you anyways...
I don't get the watch at that price point. Should it sell at a premium over the regular Moonwatch? Of course. But for $14k you're well into Rolex territory (the supply issues of the past few years notwithstanding) and I doubt the 321 will hold it's value as well compared to steel Rolexes...
I wouldn't worry about it too much man. A good night's sleep and being well hydrated can make a pretty big difference on your tests. If you're within the 20/40 regs for SNA, I certainly wouldn't risk LASIK and it's potential complications.
Mine issued in 2017 is from Excelled as well. It’s definitely nice but if I was to ever buy a replacement or a second jacket I would probably get one with side pockets and a few of the other features found on the G-1 analogues from other companies. If you search around here I know there’s been a...
For the Strike syllabus, yes it's still called Intermediate and Advanced.
For what it's worth, they just changed the Strike syllabus to mirror the E2C2 one in that you can now go Midstage FCLPs -> Night Form -> CQ.
