My recommendation? Live near town. I lived on North Hills by the FoodMax... close to most things you need and only 15 minutes to base. Living in Dalewood is living in the middle of nowhere. Literally.

FY04 yeargroup had many Middies not get commissioned because there wasn't a place for them in the Fleet, or some got commissioned but got a junk designator to see if they were worth making a SWO. It happens. Believe it.

The "two seater F-18" you're thinking of that's going to replace the EA-6B is the F/A-18G (EA-18G). Except, NFOs and pilots can't get those because they aren't in the Fleet... yet. What you are forgetting is a huge one... F/A-18F. Just wanted to refine it, to make sure no wannabe NFOs get...

The Mk23 is a brick and a half. It's easy to knock Glock. It's inexpensive, mostly polymer, light (some see that as bad). Reality is though, they're tough as nails. I used to not like Glock... now I own one. Great pistol, takes abuse, very accurate.

If you're getting bit by the slide on a Glock, you're doing something wrong. Fix your grip.

.45 is hardly a problem to control in a full frame pistol.... my .40 Glock is harder on the recoil than my brick if a 1911. It's all relative.
