You are overthinking it. Decide what you want (pilot or infantry) and go after it with no reservation whatsoever. FWIW there are plenty of people in the Army, AF, USMC, and Navy who are not 'trigger pullers' and aren't pilots either.

The best advice here: call your OSO and ask the above questions. You can't commission until your flight physical is done with your current contract (my problem to a T except that I'm OCC). You can go Ground if you so choose, but I don't think you can go NFO without having the physical taken care...

Try to get everything done as soon as possible. You never really know what may happen with this Summer (they may take some air contracts) and October isn't that far away in the grand scheme of things (flight physical, app, PT, and whatnot).

This is already happening on a limited basis at TBS and has been for some time. Something in my magic 8-ball says 'highly unlikely' with regards to doing away with air contracts completely.
