Definitely not worth it. Take it upon yourself to download the instrument flying handbook and read that. The AIM chapter about instrument approaches is actually a decent read also if you want to get an idea of how VORs, Tacans, GPS, etc... work. The best thing you can do is let a good flight...

It's ok man. I've heard AF people describe their IFS as a bit ridiculous too. IMO, the Navy IFS is how it should be: a few flights and a solo with some bookwork involved to make sure you really wanna fly before they start blowing $2000 a flight on you (at least) to train you.

It has an FMS system. The TH57 has that same GPS (KLN-900)....and yes...it is a POS.

I'm the same way. A lot of studs get into this "GPS is mo' betta" mindset and I never did that. To me, it's pretty damn easy to dial up a TACAN and do things the old fashioned way. Edit: That being said, the T-6 RI syllabus isn't really lacking and they DO teach "head rises/tail falls" across...
