Thanks for the info.
Has anyone just recently bought a car of close to the same value and a JO. Is it reasonable to finance for 36/48 months or did you have to go to 60? I just don't want to get into a loan and not be able to afford it.
Oh, and I'm looking at spending about 20-25K on the car; going to buy used at around 15K miles. The parents are going to do the initial payments up until they spend between 5 and 7.5K as a graduation gift.
I am thinking of buying a new car (2008 Nissan 350Z) while the economy and car sector still suck. I've been looking at Navy Fed for financing options and will probably go with them. First question, do you have to have an account with Navy Fed or can I keep my 5/3 account and use that for the...
My mom is a lawyer and I have had this sort of discussion with her before. It is a little more complicated than the definition you give. Insanity has to be shown at the time the act was committed, not whether he understands where he is and what the charges are. Did he realize what he was...
I had the same thing going on with my recruiter initially. It seems like it might be standard across the board. Here is how my experience went:
Got to talking with the recruiter about SNA, but while talking he asked me to look into Nuke since I was a Physics major. He sent some info to my...
I am taking almost totally different classes but will graduate on time. I've had to fill out no paperwork other than tell my recruiter what is going on. No big deal.
Story from one of my Army friends:
One their ammo clips they had green tape and red tape to denote live/unlive rounds. One private put in the green clip when they were supposed to use the red. The DI noticed, grabbed the clip from the gun and yelled to the private "what color is this?"...
Those uniforms look like the ugly Hawaiian T-Shirts that all of my Physics peers wear even if it is 10 degrees out. Hard to think that such smart people could be so dumb when it comes to common sense; probably like some really smart dude thinking that these uniforms look remotely good.
Maybe...
1) All of the above (and more). It is a little more than a sports physical, but not by much. They take a sample of blood, urine, blood pressure, pulse, eyes, hearing, flexibility, etc...
2) No
3) Don't stress out about it
With a move [of a carrier] to Jacksonville, do you think there will be more aircraft stationed at NAS Jax or will the CAW/CAG stay stationed at Oceana? Just curious, and forgive my ignorance for not really knowing the difference between an Air Wing and Air Group.

I'll post my link here as I created the same thread at the same time (please delete that one).

Apparently they were targeting Americans and British. They also still hold hostages. Take a look at the slide show presented by yahoo, some pretty...
Another thought...
My family also made sweet potato casserole like what they have at Boston Market last year. I'm not sure of the exact recipe (not much of a cook) but I googled it and came up with this.
A sweet potato casserole recipe, made with mashed sweet potatoes and a crunchy pecan...
We kind of did the same thing Lazers did one Thanksgiving. It was only my parents and I a few years back and didn't want turkey so we got King Crab Legs. It is definitely not an idea to feed 20 people, but if you only have a few people or an appetizer plate, kcl are a great way to go.
If you are really worried about the swimming take a swim class or two while at school. That is what I am planning on doing in my final quarter to get a little better in the water. Plus its an easy A!
I never have been a big fan of beards, but my advice is to keep shaven anyway. It just looks more professional IMO. Plus, what happens when you run into a vet but don't know it and tell them you are in the Marine Corps looking like Grizzly Adams? IMHO there are just too many situations you...
Goddamn, seems there are a lot of people from App St. on this forum. Just apply and see how it goes. Let us know if you get accepted! BTW, chances are fine.
Basically if you pass medical, PT, and security, you are in. Those that don't get OK'd either have medical problems, can't do a sit up, or sell cocaine and pimp for a living. So if none of those apply, you should be fine.
Just call them, easy enough. They deal with people all the time who have no clue. They will just ask you a few quick questions then get the ball rolling. No sweat.
OK...I'll answer quickly...
It depends. There is no "best" option, only the option that fits your lifestyle best. If you like leadership labs/PT/classes about the Navy for 4 years, then ROTC is best. If you just want a 12 week crash course, then BDCP or OCS is your best route. Search...
And if you do BDCP you enlist as an E-3, get to enjoy college, then do your thing in the Navy. I don't get why you don't just apply and if they say no then think about going a different route. You want to be an officer? You want to go intel? Then put in the work, do the paperwork, apply, get...
Search for BDCP (Baccalaureate degree completion program) for the Navy on google or the search function on this site. This is a great program which I am in which will help you tremendously if you need money to get through college. It won't help with your current loans, but basically you enlist...
When I was in AFROTC, they talked about a program that covered all of your college expenses for nurses. You would have to do AFROTC for this program. Check it out if you are not dead set on the Navy.
Oh come on; while I want to say OSU will whoop up on Navy, I'm in a bit of conundrum because of ties to both. I'm gonna give Navy some credit, they will show OSU a look it hasn't seen in a while and give our D some fits. Definitely won't be a blowout.
Last minute pieces of advice...
1) Search for it
2) Get a good nights sleep before the tests
3) Study multiple nights before the exams instead of cramming the night before. Your level of retention greatly improves when studying over a period of time rather than trying to memorize the night...
Almost all health insurances will pick up the tab for filling cavities. So if you are insured already, why not get it done now so the problem doesn't escalate? I did that recently. Went to the dentist and told him to fill anything that looks like the possibility of decay. Shit, why not? You...
#4)
Voltage = summation of I*R, so since the initial voltage is V, and the final voltage is zero going through the circuit, the voltage drop is V=IR through each resistor. However, since they are in series, you add them V=IR(1)+IR(2). This relation shows that the voltage drop is the same...
I think it is 30 days. But seriously, don't apply if you are debating whether to take the spot anyway. Not to say that you don't want it; but if you say no you just took a spot from another candidate that would have said yes. I would take that into consideration before applying. Good Luck.
^^^ If you haven't taken quantum, take it...thats a real GPA booster there:rolleyes:. IMO, don't take more physics to get a minor for the reason otto stated. Also, don't put yourself through any more of the suck.
It sounds to me like SWO/NFO is a second choice to you at best. Get the PRK and go SNA. Don't do something you really don't want to do just because of a 6 month wait.
