    Orthotics for Running

Ok, you'll probably have to see the flight doc and get referred to the podiatrist. It's not that big a deal as far as going med down goes, so go for it!

    Orthotics for Running

Do you use the orthotics just for the heck of it, or do you have a real foot problem? I've gotten a couple sets of custom orthotics via tricare because I have plantar fasciitis. Had it for about 2 years, and have recieved 2 custom sets for free. I'm actually going to see the podiatrist...

A neat place to shoot near Pensacola

The "public range" is Santa Rosa Sporting Clays on Quintette RD. They are $11 a day and have pistol, rifle, and shotgun ranges. The "private" range is ERML which is another couple of miles down the road. If you are going to be in Pcola for a while, or planon going to the range at least 7...

Donny, please. Clearly you missed MY point. I simply stated there isn't any particular college major that will set you up for success in flight school. The lone exception is those that were flight majors. Trust me, I don't care what your academic backgroud is, anyone can screw it up...

    Service Selection Changes

Wow, now you guys won't have an excuse like "it wasn't even on my list!" Is this a roundabout way of sending guys to the nuke side even if it isn't the first choice??? It would suck to hear your advisor say: "well, i WAS on your list...."

A neat place to shoot near Pensacola

I've spent a fair amount of time at both ranges, my personal opinion is that the ERML one is much safer. The folks there take the rules very seriously. You'll also see a larger array of firearms!

A neat place to shoot near Pensacola

actually, no. It is cheaper in the long run and it is worth it to shoot around folks who actually practice the safety rules. Barrels have been swept across me many times at the public range. Plus, at ERML I swear I spent more time shooting other members' firearms than my own!

A neat place to shoot near Pensacola

Go join the range in Cantonement. It's called Escambia River Muzzle Loaders. www.erml.org Have to be a member of the NRA. Go to Jays in Pensacola and fill out the form. $75 for the whole year. If you are looking to shoot regularly, it is a good deal. Better than the $11 a crack at the...

The helo sylabus for the Osprey bubbas is considerably shorter than the sylabus for normal Rotary. They don't have to do any of the RI sylabus, that alone eliminates about 2 months!!!

There is good info to be found at www.navy.mil look under their "fact file" to see what we fly. Short summary: we fly 5 versions of the -60 -SH-60B -SH-60F -HH-60H -MH-60S -MH-60R we also fly the MH-53E

I'll address your question about NJROTC. I think being in the program is a great help, especially if you are successful. NJROTC offers many different leadership opportunities and will also show that you have some military bearing. Stay in the program, it definitely wont hurt you. In addition...

    A-10's For The Marine Corps

Doesn't there have to be progress with the program to come up with an answer like that? ;) A more generic question: how much trigger time do you get out of the pod on the A-10, Harrier, F-15E, and F-35?

Burning questions about OCS, flight school and Navy life

If you want her there and it's feasible, the live together. Private pilot's lisence. Does it help?

It's not a question of going low and slow for the fun of it. Getting a few hours just to get some "experience" before primary is ludicrous. Not only will you forget what you learned, the learning experiences are not even close to being comparable. The civilian instructors arent going to yell...

Burning questions about OCS, flight school and Navy life

As far as marrying her, I'm willing to bet that if you do it after you are commissioned you might have to tell the command about it. The foreign part makes it more complicated, I would think. As for the security side, I'd bet that you would not be eligible for overseas billets, no Japan for...

Private pilot's lisence. Does it help?

In IFS you will probably fly a -172.....but it's not going to matter. It's still half the speed of the T-34....and civilian flight training is not nearly as stressful.

    API housing for married folks

When I signed my lease at Northwoods, they said that my next set of PCS orders had to move me at least 30 miles. Therefore, going from NASP to Whiting would not count and I couldn't break the lease. It didn't bother me at the time because I planned to live in Pensacola for API and Primary. I...

I tried to split the difference as well. I figured I would live between NASP and Whiting so I didn't have to move twice.... I lived at Northwoods at 9th & Olive (a bit North of the Airport). It was a 25 minute commute to API and about 30 minutes to Whiting. If you only want to move once...
