I can attest to these attitudes. A guy I deployed with converted to LAMPS MK III. He would stop by and visit and tell the tale of the differences. He was into that kind of attitude so the change didn't bother him.

While it is true that an HSL det can't afford to lose anyone, replacements are not difficult to come by. Airport '77 While not a Naval Aviation movie per se, Naval Aviation and the Navy in general played a central role. It is where I got my first look at an H-2 and SAR swimmers. S-3's a bit too.

I thoroughly enjoyed my H-1 time more than my H-2 time (although certainly not Army Aviation over Naval Aviation). Also, the H-1 is an aviation "classic", like a P-51 or a B-17.
