    Benefits of a Masters Degree?

I think he/she'd be a quitter because he/she applied for a spot, got offered a spot and turned it down. Regardless of the reason he/she turn down the opportunity, the Navy offered a spot and the individual basically said, "I have better things to do right now". Once you get into the Navy it's...

    Retirement Question

Some of my contemporaries have been able to negotiate upto a year extension for retirement purposes. ' They pretty much worked it out between their detailer and themsevles (and obviously had command support to extend). A lot of it will depend on the job you are in the priority to have it filled.

Really??: Ten Thousand Feet and Ten Thousand Miles (A UAV Article)

While I appreciate the arguement about Combat Responsibility, there is no self-risk when "flying" an UAV. The author mentions a big-wing bomber flying at altitude out of range of threats. However, if that bomber has an engine fire and crashes on landing, the crew is in trouble. If a Predator...

    Aviator progression in the Navy

Renagade, In my experience LDOs and WOs have not stood duty for two reasons: First is an acknowledgement that they are not "typical" Ensigns, LTJGs and LTs. They are seen as somewhat different due to life experiences. Second is that part of the job of the SDO is to manage the flight...

Renegade, In my expirience, I think the issue is more the attitude of SOME LDO's and Warrants when it comes to standing duty. In my 5 flying tours, I've seen LDOs and WO stand duty only when the flight schedule get really hectic, like C2X. Most of the LDO and WO would gladly step in and cover...

Silly helo pilot question here. Other than the time to actually fill the bottles and install in the jet, is there is benefit to OBOGS as compared to LOX? Maybe it's me, but if the LOX system worked well and the OBOGS has issues, it would seem logical to go with the more reliable system in new...

3710 give an individual 24 months to make Aircraft Commander (HAC). After 24 months the individual is supposed to go to a FNAEB. Why not the GAU-16? It's proven technology and flight rated for the 60H. The HCS squadrons have used them effectively for a number of years and IMO would be the best weapon for the "swarm tactic". It uses ammo that we already stock (granted, it uses A LOT of ammo) so other than storing more...
