This is a great story and gives some of the newbies an idea of what the Navy is all about. It gives a glimpse at the high quality of folks you'll have working for you in the fleet. Reading this story makes you proud to be a part the world's greatest Navy...

I don't think vette was being serious about the DOR thing. When I was in API it seemed like 80% of the DOR's, attrites, etc ended up with intel or IW. That may have been his point. I hope that was what he was trying to say anyways.;)

I've never personally seen anyone get taken across the deck that far. A little slide hear and there, but not that bad. I'm thinking he was probably just in a bad spot on a wet, slick deck. I was a helo maintainer and I always grabbed a padeye during launch/recovery to keep from getting taken...

BAH stops when you leave CONUS. After you get there, the housing office should be one of your first stops(scheduling driving class is another), and then CSD(PSD) will start your TLA. That's not a very smart way to train. The only way an official PRT will be conducted IAW the instruction is curl ups, push ups, run. If you're not training in that order, it's going to hurt you on game day. Train like you fight.;)

At AIMD, which is right next to gear issue. Just take in your patches, rank insignia and flight suits/jacket into production control and they'll hook you up.

I was 29 when I applied and when I commissioned. I guess you could ask the processor what they're going off of. If it's the MILPERSMAN, like I think, then that would trump the 1420. I just wish they'd update the 1420 so we're not mislead when applying. As for NFO, why not take the ASTB again...

That is correct, but for what it's worth, in my ten years in the Navy, I haven't seen anyone fail the sit-reach. I'm sure it's happened, but I haven't seen it.

Ken, MB was referring to HSL, which is COMPLTELY different from a CAG squadron. On a one bird HSL det, you usually only have two crews, three for a two bird det. It's not that the logistics of moving people isn't possible, your det just can't afford to lose anyone.

You'd be surprised. I'm 30 and recently finished API. I'm by no means a stud, but I was smoking several of my 22 yo classmates on the PRT, swim, etc. It's pretty sad if this guy is passing you on the run.:D

No..definitely doesn't compare to what's going on in Berkeley. I can certainly understand the mayor's viewpoint. On the other hand, commenting that he doesn't want them "playing war in Toledo" makes me wonder if he doesn't have his own agenda.
