    What's your technique...

I just found out the GAU-19 existed. This is the first time I've ever been jealous of SWOs. You win today, but tomorrow I'll go piss away flight pay on some booze, so HA!

I want to be a sniper

So debate with friends today: To go or not to go to a military base. Pro: Weapons, ammo, possible reinforcements if base wasn't overrun in initial waves. Cons: Zombies in body armor and possibly hard initial entry. Love where this thread went btw...

^^ What he said. I never realized how easy it was to spot one person doing it wrong until you look out at 49 people doing it right. That and it was always the usual suspects effing it up anyway.

I want to be a sniper

So my friends and I had this discussion while watching The Walking Dead. What would be the best place to wait it out? I was thinking military base of some sort, one with terrain features that naturally support defense (peninsula). I was kinda thinking some NASs would be decent as they have open...

Yeah you drink it all to make sure you're getting enough water/fluids. At the end, the section leader will call for everyone to finish their fluids, so you don't really get a choice about finishing them.

    Navy OCS questions

It'll prolly have to come from the ortho folks at NHCNE, but shouldn't be a big deal. Lots of folks have compression socks and various gear from the docs.

The first day of CandiO phase is like Christmas. Easy PT run, change into CandiO gear, a semi relaxed breakfast with coffee, change into Khakis, briefs, lunch where you could eat whatever, more briefs, then dinner with the obligatory raiding of the desert bar. Oh, and CONDIMENTS! You can...

Summer vs Cold weather flyers jacket and the Service Uniform

Only thing I've seen Marines wear with service uniforms is the brown leather jacket. That being said, USMC studs seem to be even more afraid to wear it than Navy dudes.

    Navy OCS questions

I'd say 90%ish of those applying directly to OCS (aside from those coming straight from the fleet) have little or no military background before showing up to Newport. For instance, I worked at General Electric before doing the pilot thing. You can get the rates from your recruiter on IW...

    Marriage at Flight School

It's very possible, at least before API. Just mention it right away at checkin, in public if you want to be ridiculed, or private if not. Don't expect a month off for a wedding and honeymoon to Europe though. This officer thing ain't all Choker Whites and Dinings Out. I'll let others speak...

^^ The other side of that coin is that OCS is 12 weeks, unless it's longer. The quickest way out is to graduate with your original class. Radio Shack Iphone sale

As a previous 3G owner, the 4 is like night and day compared to the 3G/3GS. Way faster, way more features. It's nice that Apple brings the new software to older phones, but the new stuff needs the new hardware. Also much better reception and less dropped calls on the 4.

No. OCS guys get the long form at OCS first week. When you get the PCola, unless you had a 25th bday between InDoc and coming to PCola, it's a short form.

Two of the best nuggets my dad dropped on me before he died: 1) Women are like buses, wait a while and another will come by and 2) If you really want to get something permanently put on your body, wait 6 months. If you still feel that strongly about it, I'll drive you myself. I'll try to pass...

Seriously? Maybe it's because I'm in Orange and White land, but I only know a few people with serious (visible in uniform) tats, and their either Marines or Prior enlisted ENS. No one gives a rip if you have your fraternity letters on your shoulder, but you don't see sleeved out officers...

Seriously dude? Do not bring an ironing board to InDoc. You'll look like an idiot. If the ironing boards are really that nasty, Reg Supply needs to get off his ass and get some ironing board covers (and probably some trash bags, as there were never any). <rant>If you're a really good...

Edit: Just realized it was in Wingspan, so public info. As I remember: SNA Solo gets Chip Light over South Working areas, executes successful PEL to NOLF Waldron. Can't recall offhand if the PT6A-25 ate itself on the way or he shut it down. SNA got an Air Medal for the work. If that was...

Stupid Questions about Naval Aviation (Part 3)

So obviously the planes are flown to where they're going, but how does the rest of the maintenance/support gravy train get to where they need to in the case of a squadron going on Det? Logistics flight to take them there? What about all the tools/ordnance/parts/etc? And does the squadron take...

Unless you had your 25th bday while at OCS, you'll be up for a short form at NAMI. Fairly quick and dirty. Expect a rigorous eye exam though. Talk to the NAMI doc after going through the stations and you'll get your upchit.

Are primary students still going through A.F. primary?

We had a production brief here before Thanksgiving leave and we're pretty far back through the logjam that was here in July. I don't know if I can throw out specifics, but sounds like between the Det and better MX, we're doing better. From my level, sounds like everyone is working as hard as...

I heard about that up at Whiting. Awesome times!
  47. SynixMan

Are primary students still going through A.F. primary?

^^ So true. I can't fight skeds, mother nature, or Sirkorsky Aerospace Maint (not bagging on them btw, they do great work with I'm sure what is a maintenance nightmare). I go with the flow like a good little ENS.
  48. SynixMan

    IFS Gouge

^^ The only way to get out of IFS is to have a PPL or better. If you did some flight training, but didn't get your PPL, you're headed to IFS.
  49. SynixMan

Are primary students still going through A.F. primary?

Am I weird that I don't care? Paychecks keep coming either way. Short of f'ing up the timing down the way if you go waaaaaay long (like waiting until O-3 to Wing), seems pretty benign. Any higher ups care to weigh in?
  50. SynixMan

    IPad ... quo vadis ???

^^ Are you using the iPad charger or an iPhone one? The iPad is basically all battery and uses a higher amp charger than your standard iPhone. An iphone one will keep it on life support, but not charge well. But on a full charge, you should be getting 8-10 hrs of use.
