    Another "praise the Raptor" article

I'd say I would feel a lot more comfortable about the F-35C but, considering: A) Prototype hasn't even been rolled out B) Prototype hasn't even flown I'm a bit skeptical. Seems the A and B variants get all the attention and Navy is out in the cold.

Foreign exchange pilots on USN Aircraft Carriers

Spanish Air Force EF-18 Vid Thought this might be the best place for this link. From Lex's place, but cool enough I though I'd share. Some absolutely beautiful country over there. Kind of makes me wish for a visit with the PR at :50 and Paella/Beer at 7:16.

Finally got my MEPS physical scheduled for this Tuesday. Had to do a lot of back and forth with the docs for paperwork from an arm break when I was 11.

MEPS asked (again) for more documents on my broken left arm from when I was 11. :icon_rage So I'll get those hopefully today, and wait another 48hrs for an appointment to be seen. Good times...

Trailer Buying and HHG DITY On the trailer note, I've searched here and came up with a bunch of "My buddy did this" or "I heard of some dude...", but no definitive answers. I've also checked out the moving guide ( http://www.defensetravel.dod.mil/perdiem/jftr(ch1-ch10).pdf ), but they don't...

So I'm still working on docs for MEPS. They sent the request back to me and I'm getting more docs from my childhood arm fracture. Good times. On the plus side, all the stuff for my background check is submitted and I'm PTing like a madman for my PRT.

    Commissioning Loans?

Does the 18 months before you commission also apply to OCS? Or is that only an Academy/NROTC deal?

    New Maritime Recon Aircraft

Very cool stuff. But why CBP and not USCG? Is CBP taking a bigger role in the ISR portion?

Stupid questions about Naval Aviation (Pt 2)

Live Fire Training Exercises Thought I'd start this here. I read a few things on here recently about Marine FW aircraft (see here) and they mentioned Desert Talon/Mojave Viper training exercises. These seem to be USMC centric trainings, and from the Navy side of the house I've read about...

    Daily life at BNA

Cool shots. Makes me realize how awful I am at Gen Av aircraft recognition. Two engine small jet? Uh, Lear, Gulf, Citation... Sure, one of those... :)

    College junior interested in aviation

I got the phone number off the NRD District's website for my area (NRD Chicago). I'd start with NRD LA's site for a number. You also might luck out with someone on here who went through there and can point you in the right direction. Best of luck.

We (awesomely) lived next door to a beer store. Coors was, for whatever reason, just as cheap at Natty/Stone. Flats of tall boy cans were the norm. Part of me misses that, other part of me doesn't. Oh well.

Bob Work was also confirmed as the Under Secretary of the Navy this week. Interesting times if you've read his work from CSBA.

We tried "Milk Pong" as a PC alternative to beer pong during Greek Week. VERY bad idea if your team goes on a run during the round robin. But mostly it was shitty beer (Natty Light, Keystone, Coors) beer pong in school. I've since "grown up" to only using Miller Lite. Call me classy if you will.

I was President of Triangle Fraternity (Engineers, Architects, and Scientists, oh my!). Despite the lack of greek letters, it actually is a greek fraternity, but founded by engineers, so they picked the most stable geometric object that also was a greek letter (Triangle/Lamba). Nerds...yes...
