MCPS is the Fleece layers/Goretex combo system. There are a couple different black fleeces, the green over fleece, and the Goretex jacket. All the 1990s technology you could want! The Massif soft shells have largely replaced the green fleece and Goretex. Mucho more better.

I think there's value in getting to something that does OEI procedures earlier in the training track. How much value? Great question. Is it fundamental to flying a fleet helicopter? Yes. Essential to learn early? Maybe.

Whatever they do, there would have to be a transition period. You cannot shut down the firehose coming from VTs or the output to the Fleet.

I still believe helo students need to to ramp higher quicker, and a single engine VFR helo plus sims for the hard parts (form, NVDs, boats) won't help them get there, even if it's "cost effective".

The Sikorsky manufacturing plates in the cockpit still say CH-60S for every one made. I picked up one of the last Block IIIBs from the factory, still there. I find it amusing more than anything else.
