    Coast Guard Alaska on TWC

I'm a fan. I appreciate that is more about the mission and the professionals doing it, and less about the interpersonal drama of AN Timmy and his baby mama. Sure, there's some human interest stuff in there, but it's not overdone.

    pretty good f-16 data

I don't follow. That's a picture of a Block 60 F-16 in UAE Markings. It's not a secret, nor has it ever been. It's just another Gen 4.5 Strike Fighter, ala the Super Hornet and Strike Eagle. Israel has their F-16I with homegrown avionics and conformal tanks (similar to the one posted above)...

    NAVY Initial Flight Screening (IFS)

Uh, do you get how Geo-Bach works? You live in the BOQ usually while collecting BAH for your wife/kiddies back home. And you have to get the command to sign off on the Geo-Bach paperwork, because the Navy will be paying double (BAH + BOQ $) for your ass.

NAs who fly the SNFOs around

Sounds like a good gig from a Prowler guy I talked to at lunch one day. Live on the beach instead of Milton, fly a decent amount (incl out & ins), etc.

    Small Arms Training

A few of my friends did it because they were frustrated they got no formal firearms training from the Navy. I'm in a god damn armed service, but the Navy has never let me touch a weapon. The Marines get this part of the equation right in OCS/TBS.

    Marine F-22s

Uh, he's talkking about replacing legacy Hornets and Prowlers with Rhinos and Growlers. Harriers will still go to the -35B for that flexibility off the LHA/LHD. Unless I'm reading it wrong... Edit: In response to the two above post...

    T-45C down at Kingsville today

Sadly, anything in Corpus over by base ops/tower is headed for the scrap heap. Some aren't even being flown to the boneyard.

    T-45C down at Kingsville today

Supposedly the T-34C's with shark teeth are the ones that survived crashes/ditches/gear up landings. Just a stud rumor, not sure of the validity. There was one in Corpus.

    Automobile to Newport?

It's just snow. It doesn't destroy cars. If it's the same as when I was there, it's a lot off the street, so there isn't a huge worry about salt corrosion. Maybe get a car cover. You'll be happy you have a car when it comes to that.

Recruiter says "pilot technically closed now"

He might have meant that there isn't a way to get your package together and ready for the cutoff, if there is indeed one. You haven't even taken the ASTB yet. OCS accessions are an on/off faucet BUPERS can use to supplement the ROTC/Academy folks that are committed to years prior. The Navy...

Winging next month. Any suggestions on what to select?

Yeah, he was a reservist. And the paraphrased stuff was selection options from back in the day. Regardless of what happens, I'm excited about the possibility of something more than The D.

Winging next month. Any suggestions on what to select?

I'm paraphrasing He said when he was selecting, options were: HSL/60B: Newer, did ASW, SSC, Starboard D. Small boy Dets. LAMPS and all the good and bad that comes with. HM/53s: Mine shit and big Ass n Trash. Dets to land. HS/ F/H was coming online: ASW and Starboard D, CVN Life. HC/ Old...

Winging next month. Any suggestions on what to select?

I know it was the "Company Kool Aid Line" we heard at the briefs in HT Land at the Fleet Fly In, but it seemed things were slowly changing with the new capabilities the Sierra 3A and Romeo are bringing to the table, and the HSC CVN/HSM CVN setups. That's a pretty cool site. Kinda crazy all the cat and dog airframes we purchased over the years. Some of them long forgotten, some not well known, to others people refuse to forget. Random question. Some of the last BUNOs on there are UH-72s. When did the Navy get those? Thought they were...

    Act of Valor

"Ooooh, Navy SEALs!" Not to rip off the famous Clerks line, but this actually looks like a good movie about the SEALs. Sanctioned by NSW, with real equipment and operators used for filming. I spotted some HS love in the trailer to boot. Here's hoping it's good.

House Hunting Leave, was, when I left TW-4, a function of your class up date for advanced. If you had the time in-between, go ahead and take it. If not, you were SOL. Seems to be similar for wingers out of the HTs. Remember, you're a product.

    Marines vs. Air Force Dilemma

Smart ass answer: A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. Smarter answer: You should probably read more around here about USMC. Going USMC is no joke. They'll test you time and time again. However, their Air Contracts guarantee a chance at flight school if you make it through OCS and...

Yup, and they are an authorized dealer, so you get all the paperwork, warranties, etc. Beats waiting a year, but then again AAFES doesn't carry X-33s with Wings made of unobtanium.
