    Shipping to OCS

(cont.) You will run your initial PFT before pick up on weds. This is so candidates aren't stressed out by the staff yet and they can get a good read on your physical preparedness. There is some bad gouge out there that says you want to "save" a little effort for the final PFT and show some...

    Shipping to OCS

I just recieved my orders to go back to seniors in two weeks. While I was at the OSO I was talking to a number of candidates who are heading out to juniors for 1st increment, and I know there are a number of them on this site. Talking to others heading back to seniors brought back tons of...

From what I've heard that's just crazy talk. I'm taking everything but my damn camp stool, which I traded for a can of Axe back at juniors.

    Lynndie England; WTF?

No. The plea was rejected because the judge felt that there was reasonable evidence to support the notion that she didn't know she was doing anything wrong.

Roger that, Sir. Her whole defense team looks like a bunch of circus folk.

    Lynndie England; WTF?

The thing is, by throwing out the guilty plea the judge has also thrown out the deal she had made with prosecutors. Therefore, when they convene another article 32 hearing, decide to retry her, and she's forced to enter a plea of not guilty they can throw the proverbial book at her if she's...

I believe it was Squeeze who said in the thread that I previously posted the link to: It's not a guarentee, it's a contract. I f you uphold your end (surviving OCS, TBS, etc.), the Corps will uphold theirs and you'll go to API. If you don't uphold your end of the contract, they don't owe you...

    How to roll BDU Sleeves

Maybe some around here aren't old enough to have tight rolled or "pegged" their jeans in the late 80's/early 90's, but that is essentially how one rolls sleeves. Let me tell you, all the practice with acid washed denim has put me ahead of the game.

    Vietnam Preps for War Anniversary

"I was born the year the country was liberated," Tran Minh Thu Huong, 30, said as he put up posters. "I'm proud of the city, proud of Saigon." Saigon? Perhaps this is a mis-translation but shouldn't this guy know it as Ho Chi Minh City? Saigon ceased to exist the year this guy was born.

    OSO question

Depends on your OSO. They are on the road alot going to schools, down to Quantico, job fairs etc. Tons of miles on the Gov. When they're around it's normally it's M-F. However I'm not an OSO, that's just my experience. I'd definitely set up an appointment.

    PLC Question-From a Father

As a fellow PLC'er headed to seniors I think I can help a little, Sir. The first question to ask your son is whether he talked to an enlisted recruiter or an OSO (officer selection officer)? The recruiter could definitely make it sound like enlistment is the way to go. Many officers and...

two sets of civvies: definitely. I would recommend comfy civilian shoes. Your feet won't be in good shape and if your dress shoes are painful it will suck. The walk to Q-Town and Little Hall is pretty far in uncomfortable shoes. Bring your cell phone! Otherwise you are waiting for the...

    Covers and Uniforms

The new MARPAT uniforms are no-iron. You will need irons for civvies for libo, but it's up to your platoon to bring those. I suggest no iron civvies so you aren't hanging out and worrying about irons when you could be hailing a cab. Use the time you have during in-processing to really learn...

First, I don't know how long it will take for the board to get back to you. Sometimes it's quick, sometimes it takes eons. The boards don't change the criteria for acceptance based on whether you want 1st or 2nd increment. From my experience the OSO's determine which increment candidates get...

You must fly to juniors. It's part of the screw of the PLC juniors/seniors route. Not only are you fortunate enough to ship and pick-up twice, but you have to fly both times (I'm not sure why west coasters would get to drive, CORPSviation?). I would drive back in a heart beat if given the go...

I joined but haven't reaped any "freebie" benefits yet. I've only completed juniors so all that I've earned is the opportunity to complete seniors this summer. I tend to stay away from the moto tees and whatnot until I can look a Marine in the eye and tell him I've earned the title.
