Dumb Question. Has anyone gone to meps after testing positive for covid? If so, did you have to wait until you tested negative to go? I've read that it could take months to render a negative test after getting covid.

Very stupid question here - I had my OCS date pushed off a few times and I’m now scheduled for an OCS class with a graduation date that is 3 days after my 32nd birthday (going in as a non-prior SWO). Reached out to my recruiter and haven’t heard back. Would anyone on here happen to know if I’ll need an age waiver for this? Is this something that could possibly preclude me from going to OCS? Thanks!

First of all it is a not a stupid question, Just to give you some perspective I am 35, I applied with a waiver which was approved and I got selected for the 18Oct OCS class. The Program Authorization for SWO (JUNE 2019) stipulates that a waiver is required if you will be commissioning after your 32nd birthday. I will suggest you contact Mr Celestine. He will likely ask you to put in a waiver. The earlier the better, my waiver took about 3 months but I guess that was because it had to go all the way to BUPERS-3, Yours will go to CNRC.
Hope that was helpful.

Or he could get used to the idea of following a chain of command and contact his recruiter.
Chain of command applies if you are attached to a command. Mr Celestine is the primary contact for OCS its ok to contact him, besides the recruiter and OCS facilitators are not the same chain of command.

I absolutely love that your heart is in the right place, your going to make a great Officer!
However Mr. Celestin is the POC for AD applicants
Recruiters are the proper points of contacts for civilians
Mr. Celestin is an absolute sweetheart though!

Do we get a chance to set up a new Navy Fed bank account and have our first paychecks deposited there?

I went and checked it out, and turns out you can sign up for a standard savings and checking account right away in less than 15 minutes at Navy Federal Credit Union. It's open to active duty, veterans, their families, DoD civilians, and future servicemembers in DEP. Which means anyone who's been selected for OCS should be able to sign up for NFCU at their leisure before they ship out.

Click "Join Today" at the very bottom of this page to start the quick application process if you're interested in NFCU: https://www.navyfederal.org/membership/become-a-member/eligibility.php

And if you don't feel like signing up now, I've now heard from enlisted folk that they give them a chance to sign up for NFCU at the start of their basic training, so I'm sure OCS will likely give you a similar opportunity in the first few days.

Question: I am applying for Intel/SWO/SWO-IWC. Even though SWO is my second option, will it go through SWO before Intel due the dates of the boards? Have anybody been accepted for their 2nd or third option but waited to see the results of their first option?
Have anybody put down SWO-IWC as your option instead of SWO-IP or SWO-IW? Is that even allowed? Thank you in advance!

Apologies if this has already been asked, but would ride sharing to OCS from our hotel be unacceptable under the circumstances? I would assume so but I was just wondering if anyone knows if there is an official position on it. Thanks!

When bringing a watch to OCS, what is acceptable in terms of level of complexity? Is it just a list of watches you can have and a list of ones you can’t or is it a call that is made on the spot if you are allowed to have. I currently have a Garmin instinct but I’m unsure if I will need to get another digital watch to get me through OCS or if the limited “smart” features of the Garmin could squeak by undetected. If anyone has any insight that would be great!
