That's great news a_dub,

A good sign things are flowing - I haven't heard anything since I spoke to my OR last after accomplishing new fingerprints at MEPS like three weeks ago.

I'll read out mid-next week if nothing is heard.

It takes about 1-2 months after signing RRA etc to be gained by the NOSC. I'd say most of you should be hearing something within July. It is crazy right now with covid and ppl trying to get ATs in though. We have an ENS that joined up in March and hasnt even seen someone from the unit yet - all virtual drills.

Just a small update,

As I was writing this funny enough an email from my OR came in..

Previously I was told I may be waiting till next fiscal, specifically as an IP select, but my NOSC was pushing to get me in prior to that.

Well I just got an email saying my comdocs will be uploaded shortly and if I had any date in mind to commission. Sounds like things are moving forward, will continue to update as things move along.

Hope everyone else's doc's start flowing as well!

Swear in ASAP. Have the ceremony later.

Yes - I didnt have a ceremony. I commissioned over skype with no one around (it was a letdown at the time) but I am happy I did it as fast as possible. Use your ODS graduation as a celebration point if you wish. I am going to make sure my family is present for O3 for sure and will have a ceremony/celebration at O4. I pick up O2 in a few months and I'm sure it will be done in the SCIF at the end of drill weekend, so not much fanfare for that one as well.

If you are a traditionalist or want to do the commissioning first salute etc. Just do it after you sign the paperwork with your family and friends

Roger on all,

I have no issue having no ceremony at all, prior e, I've been there and done that. I just want to get in and start checking off my PQS, getting to know my chain, and learn the mission ASAP.

I just let my OR know that I'll grab an officer on base here and be ready to get it all done ASAP.

It's going to take close to two months (pre-COVID anyway) to get you gained in all the Navy personnel and NOSC systems, and then to get the two to agree that they have information on the same person, and that the information matches 'enough' to let you come in and drill...

I can tell you stores of at least 2 Ensigns that the Navy 'lost'. One for 9 months, and another was stuck in an administrative 'crack' for almost 5 months.

If you can't find one, I'd be happy to do it for you.

I truly appreciate that offer and will definitely let you know.

They're welcome to lose me so long as my TIG date starts asap! This will also give me the backing I need to press for my OCS class date, I've obviously read here that with the shrinking class sizes everyone's getting shifted to the right. I just want to get that one over with.

I finally got through to MEPS this week and I am medically qualified! Now on to the next phase of patiently waiting.

Big congrats to you trakanon (eq reference btw?) - MEPS is generally never a fun experience so its fantastic you made it through, its surprising how many get DQ'd from MEPS alone.

I met a guy who was boarding for SNO when I was there recently who says he's on this forum, I hope all went well for him.

My OR is a first class, I had assumed most recruiters would be enlisted - interesting knowing there are officer billets out there for that.

Looking forward to coming onboard USS Admin Docs

OR's for years were split between Enlisted CPO's and officers, they did some changes and added some junior enlisted to OR ranks and that seems to be where much of the problems are at, a CPO is often with the JO's in the fleet so knows what they do quite often, an junior enlisted does not.
