Is that out by Dulles?
No, it is on the east side of I-95, south of Fredericksburg not far from the Wilderness Battlefield (which is mostly on the west side). Next time I’m up I’ll get a picture of this hillbilly first drag strip out in the middle of nowhere.

Are you homeported at GAI, or a different field?

Just wrote a check for close to $4k - new audio panel replacing early 80's mixer switched/ICS combo. Rewired all seats with new jacks and audio wiring while I was at it. this in a 11,000 hour + C172 that flies 400 hours per year.

It was hot, hot here yesterday even on my evening flight. Here is a shot of the practice Expeditionary Landing Field at Fort Soon to be Named After Anyone but a Confederate (some of you know it as AP Hill).

On landing I got a nice fright when, once fully committed on the ground, a deer ran across the runway! My rudder work was interesting but successful although I was certain I was going to dig in a wing tip. Made it to my parking spot with no damage.

If memory serves we used to do gun shoots there.....
