No, it is on the east side of I-95, south of Fredericksburg not far from the Wilderness Battlefield (which is mostly on the west side). Next time I’m up I’ll get a picture of this hillbilly first drag strip out in the middle of nowhere.

Are you homeported at GAI, or a different field?
GAI is well north of me. I fly out of VKX, just across the river from Davison Army Airfield. I spend most of my time either flying South or East once clear of the SFRA.
No, Wash “Executive” (nothing executive about it) is on top of a hill...Potomac is down in a valley.
Took the fam to a local airport for Dunkin and plane watching:

It was hot, hot here yesterday even on my evening flight. Here is a shot of the practice Expeditionary Landing Field at Fort Soon to be Named After Anyone but a Confederate (some of you know it as AP Hill).
On landing I got a nice fright when, once fully committed on the ground, a deer ran across the runway! My rudder work was interesting but successful although I was certain I was going to dig in a wing tip. Made it to my parking spot with no damage.

Only big airplane flying for me all week. Got tagged off reserve for a 5 day but I’ll be able shave a day off so maybe some GA flying on Friday..
If memory serves we used to do gun shoots there.....
Likely, there are lots of ranges and even Army ‘60’s have a door gunner range there.
