The nearest NOSC might be able to do a statement of service for you. It might be quick or it might be a day or two, mainly depending on how much other paperwork they have going on (the paperwork never stops). I can't remember if you have to be affiliated with them or not (as in I can't remember if a statement of service has to come from your command or not).

I will give it a try. PERS-93 use to fax them to me. I've done the SF-180 before and I think all they know is to send my "Official Military Personnel File" which does not contain the Statement of Service. I check the "other" box but might as well be checking trash box as far as PERS is concerned. I'm pretty sure PERS tried to hand off "distributing" the Statement of Service and no one bothered to check and see which department actually can distribute it.

I did the SF-180 three months ago requesting my final ASOSH and still haven’t heard boo.

I just called and they have my points up to August 2018 but not those submitted in December 2018. The system must be back up and running.
On a related topic. How do I get a copy of my statement of service? The help desk stated that I need to complete an SF180. I have completed one in the past and specifically requested a "Statement of Service." However, I received a CD with my military record but it did not contain my Statement of Service. Any help is appreciated. In the past, PERS faxed it to me, but I don't think they are doing that anymore.
Hey, I called them too and it’s back up. They even got a few more courses posted for me. For the statement of service, last year I just called that NPC helpdesk ive been calling regarding points and submitted a ticket to PERS-912 requesting the statement of service. Someone from PERS912 emailed it to me. Maybe they changed their process if they are requiring you to fill out a form. I’ll request a statement of service at the end of May (anniversary is May 18 or 19th each year)

I hit send on my last homework assignment for Naval War College on Sunday night. Waiting anxiously for my grade, completion letter, and points submission. TDSM 40 pts. For those contemplating Naval War College JPME, I recommend it. I only got 2/3 done. I took JMO and then TDSM. JMO is worth 68 points I believe. Both courses are rewarding, interesting, and professionally significant. They're also real grad school classes so be prepared to work.

Hey, All! Long time no see!

I also always struggled getting my ASOSH when in the IRR. I would go to Recruiters' Office and NOSC but would be told "Sorry, you are not in our Chain of Command so I can't look you up." Since this sounded like a standard answer and they never even actually tried looking me up, I basically took it as them really saying "Sorry, what you are asking me to do is extra work, which I avoid."

Calling the NPC Service Center would result in them trying to transfer me to PERS-93 and either no answer or I would get disconnected.

The only way I was ever able to get my ASOSH was by directly calling PERS-93 and telling them I needed my ASOSH for my son's application for a Presidential Nomination for the Service Academies. The Presidential Nomination adds point to the application process if the parent of the applicant has a minimum number of Points, which I met (in part through all the discussion in these boards over the years!).

Once the Chief at PERS-93 heard that, all he requested was a fax number he could send my ASOSH to.

I got a signed ASOSH in 10 minutes!

In the end, my son got both Presidential and Congressional Nominations but did not get accepted by any of the Academies. He wound up getting an ROTC scholarship though just like his Old Man, except for the Air Farce, er, I mean Air Force.

Hi, does anyone by chance have the official IRR course list from 2017 / early 2018 timeframe? Even a screenshot would be handy.

Thanks so much!

m990540,

Putting on my Rockford hat . . . .

Using the wayback machine website and going to the NPC website for November 2017, I was able to figure out the name of the file you are looking for: FY18_Reserve_Retirement_Points_List.pdf

Doing some further sleuthing it looks like even though the link to this file has been superseded on the Points FAQ page to the most recent Course list, it is still uploaded in the NPC website (Bless our "Must Minimize The Amount Of Work I Do" government workers)!

Here:

http://www.public.navy.mil/bupers-n...ments/FY18_Reserve_Retirement_Points_List.pdf

Which pretty much means you can look up any year, so long as you know the name of the file, which the wayback machine website should let you figure out.

Your Welcome,

ATMahan

ATMahan,

Wow - thank you so much! One more request...using the same methodology can we find the points list for FY17 too? Meaning one from before Nov 2017?

You're the man!! I was getting worried by the silence.

I'm obviously on the Marine Corps side of the house, but transitioned to the Reserves last year and am actively drilling. I wasn't planning on doing any PME but my 15C sim job is super lax and I've essentially completed USAF Command & Staff in four months. Anyone know if I can drop into the IRR at around 18 years and just do another branch's version of Command & Staff for the points I need to get the last two "good years?" Or is it once you do one version, you can't do another for Reserve credit?

Did you get a Qual out of C&S? (JPME for example?) If not, I believe you're good to go. You may be good to go regardless as each course has a unique code. I almost attempted this with taking French through NRTC and then through Marinenet. The courses were the same, but had different codes but I ultimately couldn't stomach taking french twice. At any rate, you can get 2 or three good years out of Naval War College if you enroll in the JPME I course. They were fine with me taking one course per year.

Just be wary of doing IRR to finish up your 20. As Sam and others who've made it work will tell you, big reserves will apparently put up obstacles from time to time, as force shaping tools to encourage reservists to stay in a drilling status or to save money by shrinking the IRR. All I'm saying is to keep your finger on the pulse starting a few years before you think you'll go IRR.

Marine Corps enlisted here. The approved course list for NON-Marinenet courses is written/modified by someone at Manpower and Reserve Affairs each year. Meaning it can and does change at the start of each fiscal year. I've seen it shrink drastically regarding approved courses, but the command and staff courses don't seem to change. Who knows what it'll be when you are looking at it for your last two years though. I've attached last year's.

If you want this year's you've got to contact Manpower and Reserve Affairs because they post the approved courses here, but you need some sort of access to download them. In the past I've simply emailed the POC (Sergeant or Captain) on the page from my civilian email address and they emailed me up with the latest files.

One more thing, before you charge forward and start knocking out approved courses, be sure to read the note at the bottom of the excel tabs that say things like "Note: Only personnel assigned to NEPLO billets are eligible to receive retirement points for completing Emergency Management Institute independent courses.", because they will NOT give you points if you are ineligible.
