Anybody with a FINSEL yet? I understand we haven’t been selected long enough for it to be considered “purgatory”, but damn this waiting is making me anxious.
No FINSEL yet, but I received a call from my NRD last week asking me to confirm the dates of my medical appt., etc. so I think they are moving along.

No FINSEL yet but according to my school's coordinator I am signed up for the June 16th OCS. The process is definitely in motion. If you are active duty check if your school's coordinator can see if you are signed up for a date.

I’m not really sure of what a “schools coordinator” is, but I can tell you I’ve never heard of one in 10 years of service. My chain of command sent a release date of February, so I’m hoping for that FINSEL as soon as possible.

Who signs you up for schools? They can look in CANTRAC to see what schools you are signed up for. Im not sure what they call who does that but there has to be someone at your command with CANTRAC access.

Talk to your command's Training Officer.

Anyone with a CAC can log into CANTRAC. I see the direction you’re headed, and that would be called a Career counselor... are you on active duty or a reservist?

Everyone else still finding themselves in “final selection purgatory”?

Suppose to get my fin selection today or tomorrow and ship to OCS on Feb 10th. Trying to change my OCS date to March since they took so long to give me my PSI interview because am active duty and need to put my house goods in storage and I barely have time to do so now.

I know of at least 2 situations in which an active duty member shifted to a later date and neither got orders or finsels more than 14 days out. Good luck! If you stay in Feb 10 see you there... if I get orders...

Every one of my large commands had a schools coordinator, or similar title, coordinated the orders of those going to school and also processed the request of those departments trying to send people to school.

Just because they have sent a release date doesn't mean a FINSEL will arrive quick, it could, but there are other pieces such as who else is waiting to go, how much space they have in the OCS classes coming up, how much space in the school you need to attend, etc.....

Ive never seen anyone coordinate schools for an individual sailor outside of a career counselor. Even then, they don’t do much for you but make a call to the phone number listed in CANTRAC to fill the spot which could’ve been completed by the Sailor anyhow. I fully understand how vacancies work. And with 100 seats classing up every three weeks, that’s a lot of opportunity. As it stands, there’s still over 20 vacancies in the next class that convenes on 10 feb, and over 50 in the 03 mar class that I was made available for. Past that, it goes up even higher. I’ve been reading through threads in this website, and waiting 3-5 months for a FINSEL doesn’t seem out of the ordinary. What I do think is quite bizarre is that most don’t receive them or their orders until 2 weeks prior to convening? That’s an absurd amount of time to expect a PCS, especially when you’re an AD service member.

100 in a class is not normal, more like 70. Some classes even get as low as 25 people. Why the variation? Who knows? My guess is the reason it's lower in the winter months is because people don't want to be in RI when it's cold and whoever is running the OCS machine isn't obligated to put the max number of butts-in-seats. As far as FINSELs go, I got mine 4 days prior to my class-up date. That was fun.
