FY 2012 IDC Boards

Congrats Gtitan, it would seem I wasn't so lucky. For whatever reason, my packet may not advance to the board since no interviews have been scheduled as yet and none is likely to. Looks like September for me. I'd rather have the time to do good interviews than rush around and have bad ones. Fair winds and following sees to you and everyone going in March. Thanks for your willingness to serve. GO NAVY!

Some have been asking numbers so I pulled the new status report the FY12 plan still hasn't been signed so what I am giving are the lower of the two numbers, the higher number is just a handful more than the lower number. The numbers I am giving are also those already attained + final selected + pro rec'd.
Intel - 18 spots left
IW - 2 spots left
IP - 5 spots left

Well, I won't be getting too hopeful in that case, but there's always next time.

Recruiter said there were a few hiccups in my packet with NASIS not matching resume (unpaid work/internship not listed as employment on NASIS) but that he would try and correct that. Other than that should be good to go to get passed up to the boards.

I had my final interview on Tuesday with the OIC to get her approval and recommendation. I was just told my package will be in front of the board. Good luck everyone!

Thanks for the quota update NavyOffRec. Please let us know if you hear anything further on the final numbers as we get closer to the board date.
Thanks again!

So who is applying for the March board? I am submitting a letter of reconsideration. I have another IT cert done (and maybe a second cert), I have a LOR coming from the VP of my company, and I have an interview with a RADM next week. Im hoping with these 3 things itll be enough to put me in.
Hi Jason,
I just found and joined this site today, I am so thankful I did, lots of great information. I am applying for the first time for the March2012 board, I am pursuing a commission for the IP community. I was fortunate enough to get LORs from the President, VP of Finance, VP of HR, and Director of IS (my supervisor) of my company, all of these individuals know me well as I have worked there for 14 years and reported or worked under their direction at one point. I also had two interviews with Flag Officers. My recruiter says my packet is strong but after noticing so many good candidates not get in on their first try, I am hoping for the best but would not be surprised if I do not get selected. I'd say my major disadvantage is that I only hold one IT cert, the A+. I did graduate Magna Cum Laude in IS and have worked in IT for 11 years but not sure if it'll be enough the first time around. I've already begun the process of obtaining my Network+ and will pursue Security+ after that...if time permits before the SEP board, I'd like to attempt the CCNA or a Microsoft cert.

I hope your dream comes true and you are selected this time around, keep me updated! Also, what region are you from? I'm in San Diego.

It is very possible they will have some FY13 selections based on what I have seen, that may increase the numbers a bit.

Welcome to the forums Hector. I am from the DC area.

I am really hoping to get in this time around. Some changes I made to my package include.
LOR from VP of my company
LOR from Sr Director
LOR from my manager
I also interviewed with a 2 star Admiral (who also wrote a note to the board), 2 Captains, and 1 LCDR (all in the IW community) and receieved outstanding recommendations.
Added a few more IT Certifications (MCITP, MCTS, RHCSA - Already hold MCP, MCSA)
Volunteered as the IT Director for a local hockey organization I play hockey at.

In addition, I worked for the goverenment for a number of years. I was a prior service IT2 in the Navy for 5 years, and I have a lot of experience in the IT realm, both as an engineer and as a leader.

If I am not selected, I will wait until next March and re-apply. The only thing I can do to make my package if that becomes the case is to start on my masters degree. I believe this is the only thing holding me back.
