Ammo, Ammo, Ammo

We need to insure that these retards aren't the only ones talking about the issue. In many cases, the most ignorant are the ones speaking the most/loudest.

NRA is a pretty good start, but emails/letters to our senators/congressmen is another way. Don't let them think that there are more people who want to ban guns than there are that have them.

Of course, one could always shoot everyone who supports anti-gun laws, but I'm pretty sure there is a law against that. Hard to remember, though, with all the laws running around pertaining to firearms.

It seems that as long as the cartels have money to buy guns, there will be a way for them to get guns--and ammo. And they have the money to pay whatever it costs. It might help if more of the dealers were caught and punished. Unfortunately, as one ATF guy was saying, these cartels are well organized and have excellent strategy.

It was a cop who recently told me that the gun stores are running out of guns in anticipation of new bans. (He is filling his closets, I suspect.)

I guess Congress is just trying to make a gesture towards solving the problem--I don't know what else they can do to show that they recognize there is a problem and they want to help.

You have to give the administration one thing: they are sticking to their word. 2008 Democratic National Platform firearms section:
Firearms
We recognize that the right to bear arms is an important part of the American tradition, and we will preserve Americans’ Second Amendment right to own and use firearms. We believe that the right to own firearms is subject to reasonable regulation, but we know that what works in Chicago may not work in Cheyenne. We can work together to enact and enforce common-sense laws and improvements – like closing the gun show loophole, improving our background check system, and reinstating the assault weapons ban, so that guns do not fall into the hands of terrorists or criminals. Acting responsibly and with respect for differing views on this issue, we can both protect the constitutional right to bear arms and keep our communities and our children safe.
Awfully nice of the terrorists and criminals to give up their "assault weapons".

As a former Republican and current independent, I never thought I'd be saying this.

Nancy Pelosi is making me breathe a sigh of relief.
I give Pelosi & Co. no points for this head-fake.

The "smart" Dem's ... make that the "crafty" or "cunning" Dems ... learned a BIG lesson about US grass-root values in the 1994 general election ... and they don't want to resurrect the sleeping giant that is the Bubba vote again ... but as they haven't changed their agenda -- and you can take that to the bank -- this time, they'll just be a lot more cagey and circuitous while still proceeding toward the same final destination.

Remember -- it's truly all about "control". :)

All I can think of right now is she is pissed because Holder didn't run the idea by her first. Or they really learned from the first AWB.... Hmmmm...

I'm sorry. Maybe it should have gone something like I'm sure the honorable Senators are coming up with a coherent, acceptable plan to enforce current laws, as well as backing up their assertions that these dangerous weapons are going to stay out of the hands of those who do not have the right to possess them....

oh wait. that would have been a lie.

and idiot? come on, what happened to the leaving personal insults out of it...

I said it makes you look like an idiot, I didn't call you one, yet.

And the point still stands, personal insults don't really replace a coherent argument, funny how that works out.

Reichstag Fire and Mexican Drug Cartels?

parallels?

S.T.F.U.

(Unless this is some sort of sarcasm I don't get...)

I with HueyCobra, WTF are you talking about?

Wow... that's nice of you.

I suppose it all depends on your point of view. I'd continue but I don't want the Art.88 Nazis to yell at me and dock me "rep points."

How many times are people here going to use that cop out? Seriously, if you can't make an argument without violating Article 88 maybe you ought to not even be posting in a thread with political overtones.

And the people who would ding you for violating it are ones following the rules, something that you have to do when you are in the military. Shocking, I know, but you can't pick and chose the rules that suit you when you raise your right hand.

Speaking of which --- they just had a blurb on the news today or yesterday that said the WA-Canadian border was the "most dangerous" (?) border in the Continental US ... ???

I'll see if I can find a link ...

I did have a Canuk border-guy ask me "Yes, Sir ... and what deadly weapons are you bring into Canada today ... " on my last visit. We looked at each other, expressionless, for 3-4 seconds ... I then stuck BOTH hands out of the window and said: "JUST THESE"!!!

He tried not to laugh ... he almost broke his face trying ... :)

Well, I find it interesting that the Nazis used the Reichstag Fire as a reason to start their consolidation of power in the 1930s. This incident lead to many rights being curtailed and started the scapegoating of the Jews.

Meanwhile in the present, we have the "Mexican Drug War" as a reasoning to pursue the possible ban of certain firearms in the United States. This law would affect law-abiding US citizens who did not cause the Mexican state to fail and the Federal Government's inability to allow CBP, BP, ICE, DEA, FBI and BATFE to do their jobs

The Austrian community organizer was able to take many different hardships and turn them to his advantage, allowing him to seize power and curtail the rights of the German people with the Reichstag "Fire" acting as a catalyst.

I just hope the Mexican Drug War and issues within the United States don't allow similar things to happen...
