Repost (of posting on Hulu.com)

Posting earlier in this thread:

Speed and Angels, but it's not a "movie" per say. I guess the new Transformers movie is supposed to have an aircraft carrier transformer so expect some naval aviation there.

And it has its own Mega Thread with 16,000+ views and counting!

I got my DVD of Final Countdown at the Oceana NEX. It was in the bargain bin. Cost me $2!!

As a bonus, the cashier I paid was a retired chief who was in the galley scene where are the E's are asking the chief "WTF".

We played it all week in one of the classrooms at NSFWSL and there was a steady stream of old guys walking through to watch bits of it and tell old sea stories about working on/flying XX aircraft.

Definitely got my $2 worth.

You got a great deal. I bought the DVD from Amazon back in 2004 right before deployment at the time. Still a great purchase. Thanks to your posts, I'm grabbing it from my entertainment center to throw in my bag now.

My fiance got it for me as a "stocking stuffer" in like 2005. The DVD replaced my old VHS tape that I wore out as a child.

They came out with a new version of Final Countdown a couple years ago that has interviews with some of the Jolly Rogers that did the flying in the movie. Getting paid to hang out in Key West with you buddies, drink beer and Fly does not sound like a bad gig at all!

It's too bad they had to "let the Japs do it again!";)

Speaking of that I actually have an old copy of the movie lying around without all the Gucci extras. If anyone does not have it and wants it, it's yours if you pay the shipping just PM me. Happy holidays!

I dont understand why people like this movie so much.

Dont get me wrong. I loved this movie as a kid, and still love it today, but I am just surprised that everyone else thinks so highly of it. I was ridiculed as a kid when in the Boy Scouts we stayed aboard the Blue Ghost in corpus and they showed us Final Countdown as the nightly movie. I was so excited, but I was the only one.
