Well I think it is vague. It says he has worked with Navy Seals. I "worked" with Navy Seals. Sure it was a silly 2 day midshipman thing but I still worked with them. To me it just seems like an odd way of saying it

So, if gunships work with SEALs, I guess that makes me qualified to host the show.

Don't they say he joined the French foreign legion on some of the commercials?

I think, as Mumbles said, he was SAS, not Foreign Legion. At least he takes the time, when he's about to do something utterly nuts, to mention he's an expert and it's "for instructional purposes only."

It's funny; there's a whole thread on IMDB about how Bear sucks compared to the dude that did Survivorman, things are staged, he doesn't know what he is talking about, etc. etc. etc.

Yet I watched one episode of Survivorman and it seemed that half of time he got himself into trouble, it was due to something he'd screwed away 5-10 minutes prior and then had to explain how the mistake was costing him . . . "expert" indeed.

He may have done both; the Legion takes a lot of oddballs. I do know at least one of the commercials claims Foreign Legion experience, because I heard it.

Combating TIP training AGAIN?!

I don't remember hearing Foreign Legion, but he does have one of those funny white hats in the intro...:)

He wasn't in the real SAS but he did a program with a bunch of other journalists that tried to complete the training but they didn't get accepted into the real thing at the end....if that makes any sense....he was one of the few that completed it

Yeah I remember hearing the foreign legion commercial about Bear, it says he "trained with the foreign legion." As far as the camera crew thing goes with survivorman and Bear, I would guess that the things bear does, are a heck of a lot more dangerous that what survivorman does... I haven't watched survivorman much but all ive seen is him sitting around eating ants. and maybe he floated a river once. Bear Grylls jumps out of helicopters, ski's down glaciers and jumps into ice cracks.

The bio for the host of future weopons is on the discovery website. It seems that he was trying to follow in chuck norris's footsteps. He is into marshal arts and I'm guessing that he probably wanted to get into movies at some point. He was a navy seal. According to his bio on the discovery site "While at SEAL Team TWO he was attached to the training cadre as the Leading Petty Officer of Land, Mountain and Arctic Warfare." I like future weopons. What would be more entertaining would be to see what he would do to someone who called him a tool to his face.
