Interesting article from Fortune on the petrodollar:

2 years ago, Saudi Arabia quietly canceled the ‘petrodollar’ deal with America that wired the world economy for 50 years. Then war broke out in Iran | Fortune

With the Sea Lion oil field advancing, combined with the weakness of the Royal Navy now, wonder if Argentina is going to take another look at The Falklands?
That brings up a good question: how capable are the Queen Elizabeth’s as it was implied earlier that without fixed wing AEW, Growlers and AR, carriers were not effective. And considering the size difference between the QE’s (65,000 tons), America class ginormous LPH’s (44,000 tons) and Izumos (27,000 tons) are some useful without the aircraft / drones that have to be catapulted? The 'weakness' of the RN is far outweighed by the laughable state of the Argentinian armed forces. Plus, while smaller than it used to be I am not sure I would call a navy with F-35B-equipped carrier/s (they can only equip one at a time, but still...) and Tomahawk-armed subs 'weak'.

California's successful ocean experiment. How 9-meter concrete spheres become game-changing batteries - 3DVF
Why are engineers celebrating a device that fails if it floats? Off the California coast, a submerged giant is forcing a rethink of batteries and reefs alike.3dvf.com
There is an absolutely crazy amount of sea bed infrastructure in place for the oil and gas industry, for example. They are taking all the stuff that you see on a floating oil platform and putting it on the sea bed. These devices would be relatively trivial. They need to be changed every 20 years, so the artificial reef with decades of growth just... gets removed? Kind of shoots a hole in that particular "green" aspect.
Color me skeptical. It seems very maintenance-intensive and complex, in a corrosive and politically-charged environment. I'm glad people are looking at solutions, but I don't think this one is going to work as well as the article suggests.

There is a lot of interest in small reactors; this is a new design I had not heard of previously. Drilling a 30” borehole a mile deep is not going to be cheap - although it appears to be about as safe and terrorist proof as possible.
